6br repeater on Savage SA?

I have a Savage SA, blind magazine, staggered feed action w/ .473 boltface. I tried to search on the 'Bryant Conversion' but couldn't find anything. I'm assuming it's something to do with converting the magazine. Can some one fill me in on what issue I might run into, or if this is a lost cause. I would be using Berger 105vlds and some 95-100gr hunting bullets. I'm only looking to get 2 or 3 in the magazine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bill

Bill, I'm not sure who is having any success with getting the stagger feed magazines to feed the 6br, but I just built a 6br sporter based on a Savage SA, DBM varmint action that feeds like a dream. I had previously read all the negative reports on feeding the 6br from existing/modified stagger feed actions and decided getting one to work well wasn't worth the effort.

Bill,

Here is the story you want. To find articles on the editorial site use the search function on the home page, www.6mmBR.com.

Thanks for the information and the search tip. I don't know this is going to work on a Savage action, because I don't think there is a block installed in a .223 magazine. My father has a Savage SA in .223 so I will investigate further and report back. I get the concept now, and will try to see what I can come up with.

Thanks again,
Bill

I have a .223 DBM, it has a spacer. What cartridge are you guys using that works with no problems? A lightweight sporter 6br would be awesome with my American Classic.

savage sells a lrpv in 6br repeater, so all you should have to do is use that mag w/ a centerfeed action....

One possible gotcha, don't know for sure) is that the LRPV repeater in 6mmBR only comes with a 1-12' twist for light, and usually shorter) bullets. Whether there would be enough room in the mag for longer bullets like a 105-107 to feed okay would be an interesting question...

all you should have to do is remove the spacer in the magazine and a .308 catridge would feed just fine.
