6BR PRS Rig

FB_IMG_1558273736962.jpg FB_IMG_1558273632501.jpg received_321536451850537.jpeg I've been shooting PRS for a few years now, been a blast. Main rifle fit the last two years has been a 6.5CM which is a fantastic even caliber. The only downside is when you run a suppressor.

I started running suppressed this year and with a 6.5CM the recoil on obstacles is a bit much. The time off target during recoil is a smidge too long, so a few weeks ago I and a buddy decided to switch over to the 6br. We had run other smaller cartridges (x47 mainly) but the recoil was still the same or close enough it didn't make much difference.

A call to Greg @ SPS and 3 days later we had two 6mm 8t HV 31" long sitting on the bench.

I grabbed an old Kreiger from my bucket (same details) and chopped the shank off and chambered it and my buddies barrel.

I'm using a TL Technologies G1 and he's using a Kelbly Atlas Tactical.

Put everything on the rifle, went home and did a really quick ladder test, found a node from 28.9-29.1gr H4895 with 105s and ran 29gr for 10 shots across the magneto and was pleasantly surprised to find a solid node.

The best part about the BR is the lack of recoil with a suppressor. I was seeing about .7-1 mil movement from my barricade, where the creed was almost 2.5x that.

Today Im going to take it to 700y and tune the OAL but I'm guessing there's not going to be much work involved.

I changed over from 6x47L to 6mmBR as well.

Always trade offs, the bigger 6 did very well past 1000Y, the little one does peter out a bit.

The little 6 puts in 5'ers touching at 100Y without much fuss and if I miss inside 800Y, I didn't get the wind right.

For now I'm staying with the little one, I like the extra barrel life, or maybe 6mmBRA later on???

I did the same thing for this season, changed from a 6.5 creedmoor to a 6br. Really enjoying the easy tuning and low recoil. 29.1gr of H4895 is my go to with 107 sierras.

I plan to use my Eliseo UMRS in 6BR to try out PRS. It’s primary purpose is for highpower, but my goal is to use it in both disciplines.

Couple curiosity questions:

Why the straight BR, vs. some of the other improved versions?

What mags are you running to get reliable feeding?

Mainly because the hassle vs gain going with another variant isn't worth it. The extra 100fps with a BRA or Dasher doesn't amount to anything except elevation. Wind differences at 1k is laughable. So, to save time, money, and supplies it was an easy choice.

I can't speak for Nightraider, but I am using Magpul AICS mags with nothing modified in them very successfully. This is in a Mcree G10 chasis with a Impact Precision action.

Yes there are solutions/products available now for 100% reliable feeding. I run AICS mags with primal rights spacers. Never had a problem. Also ran those mags w/out spacers and AICS Pmags again with no problems.

What barrel length are you running on your 6mmBR for PRS competition and the 105's?

27"

It's amazing what .026" will do. I couldn't get this thing to group, tried looking for something in an OAL node to let me know where I was, nothing.... so I shoved that bullet into the lands and sent it. The white target is .026" off, the red is .000" off
Both are 400y 5x groups
