6BR for sensitive shooter?

I built a trued rem stainless short action, rem varmint brux or bartlein barrel (cant remember) 6BR for my wife, feeder flawlessly from an AI mag. Stiller bottom metal I think. Jewell trigger, ross schuler brake on it.

Its like shooting a 22-250 no joke... 105 berger vlds, bugholes, and I wish it was mine... she loves it. Shes loves shooting it, and ever man thats shot it just starts laughing because of how low recoil and stupid accuate it is..

We both shot a deer with it last year.

6BR or 6X45. Either or.

And for the guys that say they dont feed reliably, I havent had it mess up even once on me..

I love our 6BRs but they use just slightly less powder than my 243win Varget load. Recoil in a 6# rifle with a 95gr BT isn't bad in a field position but it's not comfortable off a rest, due to the sharpness. A slower powder may help this but it's hard to argue with .6" five shot groups in a pencil barrel.

Another member mentioned a muzzle break. This is the fasted and least expensive way to tame the rifle. Might I recommend, since you live in a free state, a supressor. You could keep the rifle light and still shoot with no bearing protection. A break in a shooting box is horrendous! I can, not bad at all. Keep the barrel at 18" and a 1# Ti can at 6" won't be hard to field at all, even for a smaller framed person.

Silencer shop is in Texas. No need for a form3 so that speeds things up. Do the simple $25 trust and buy the can. They do the form4. You'll probably have it by rifle season, then add her to the trust and walla... best of both worlds and less expensive than a new rifle.

I shoot a 6br benchrest with almost no recoil. Free recoil hardly hits my shoulder. But it weighs 22 lbs. Once I see you're hunting, then the magazine feed problems in my mind disqualify the 6br. I've tried it and you're just asking for headaches, especially in a rifle for your wife.

The 223 suggestions are good if that is enough energy for you. I'd prefer more for deer. One cartridge that has attracted my attention and should be very good with bullets available up to 90 grains is the 22 nosler.

I'd probably go with a muzzle brake and whatever cartridge I felt was optimal. A properly installed 4 port muzzle brake (Like this one) will reduce the recoil of a 243 to less than a 6br without a brake. Many muzzle brakes are undersized and what you want for your wife is one that is oversized.

Try the 6.5 Grendel. Works good on Mississippi deer.

Verbose he was not. Wise he was.

Thanks for the great quote!

Now, back to the thread. I find it hard to fault the 6x45 recommendation as much as I like the 6BR. In a properly fitted 7 lb. rifle, it will be easy on the shoulder and have plenty of energy for smaller whitetail. The cost and availability of parent brass is just a bonus.
