6br or 6x47

I have a 1:8 Kreiger bbl waiting to have chambered. Trying to decide if I want a 6br or something else. I have 2 long range varmint rifles so I will be using the new one mainly for 300 yd shooting at 2 local gun clubs varmint shoots for fun. I want to shoot 95 or 107 SMK's. Am I on the right track or should I be looking at something else? I will probably use Redding bushing die, should I go with neck or full size? Thanks for any help.

John, Select the 6BR for that range and save the powder and the barrel life. Buy the 3 die competition set that has a neck and a body die, that way you have all bases covered. Go w/a no turn neck for reloading simplicity. Larry in western Ky.

Larry's post is right on, you will be able to neck size, and thous shoot fire formed cases for there improved accuracy. And still be able to FL size and move back the shoulder when needed.
I also have a 1-8' but have found extreme accuracy from Berger 80g,.0s to .2s) @ 100. But you should have no problem working up a 95 to 105g load. if you have a wind problem. Otherwise the lighter flat base bullets might work better at 300 and less, there faster and flatter shooting, and your barrel tw will love them.
I load my 6BR almost exclusively with Varget.
Mike.

You can get a very good full-length bushing die from Harrell's. Send 3 fired cases and they'll pick a die off the shelf that fits your chamber pretty well.

Re neck-sizing: With my 6mmBR I've never found any accuracy gains when neck-sizing only vs. FL sizing. YMMV.

My favorite 6BR die is a full-length, NON-bushing die with the neck honed to give the neck tension you prefer. You don't have any flexibility from this set-up, but once you know what you're load likes, the honed FL die can make very, very straight and accurate ammo. Forster will hone their FL dies for about $10 plus shipping.

John,

Moderator, Mikem, and LarryDScott All of it is great advice. Some more good bullets. 90 gr, 88gr, Berger's and all the Berger heavy bullets are great too. Bib's 95 gr 108 gr. are great also.Do the 6BR and don't look back.
