My barrel is chambered for .271 Lapua no turn neck. The loaded round is .268

I have a new barrel coming for a another build.

My reamer question, before ordering:
Would there be an accuracy advantage to using
a reamer w/a .269 neck rather than a reamer
for the above, or would it only work the brass less????

Larry,

i feel that you shouldn't.. that leaving a couple K around the neck is better..

I doubt you would see an accuracy advantage, unless you wanted to go smaller to do a clean up cut on the neck. Then after turning, the question would still remain if you would actually see an accuracy improvement. JMO

Better off (IMHO) to go .272 and forget about neck turning. That way, you can use just about any brass. No turn neck means more trigger time and less time spent messing with brass that won't get you any better accuracy. If they're all going in the same hole, don't mess with a good thing.;)
Go zero freebore (or next to nothing) so you can start off with lite bullets and go heavier as the throat wears. (and it will, sooner than you expect)

Hi Larry,,,I have used a .271 NK since I won that bbl at the BBB in 2003,,,and have used paper/gold box and the new blue box stuff ,,,all workd great,,,my FB is .104 and its perfect ,,,,(((( a dasher with its shorter neck should be ~ .135-.150" FB))) ,,,,but for a BR this is what I have used to break 3 records with,,,Roger

For my .266 NK 6 BR chamber the thinner neck walls have given me very good felt indication while seating of the uniformity of neck tension from one seating to the next. This is a critical step that needs to be as uniform among all loads as possible for best accuracy. Therefore thinner is better for me.

I have a .271 and a .272 neck and my rounds mike .269 with my last batch of blue box brass. Both work well for me with no neck turning. I can't seem to wear out my brass. If I were you I'd stick with .271 or maybe go to .272
