neck tension HELP

I am reloading for my new 6BR. It is chambered for no neck-turn lapua brass. My loaded round with a Sierra Match King measures .2695. I am using a .268 neck bushing in a Harrels die. It seems like I have to use a lot of pressure on the press to seat the bullet. The 105 Berger VLD's seat a lot easier than the Sierra bullets. I am slightly chamforing the inside of the necks with a few nylon brush stokes. Should I try a .269 bushing with the Sierra bullets? Does it matter what tension as long as it's consistant?

You really need to use a VLD type of cutter on the inside of your necks, not a Nylon brush. I like the one from K&M if you trim the wires so they are all even
The brush is fine for cleaning them after they have been fired but not good for much else...
You should not be having a hard seating problem by using a 268 bushing on a 269.5 loaded round.
My loaded rounds measure .268.4- for a .269 neck chamber, and I use a .266 bushing in my Harrells FL die.
Locate a good VLD tool and I'll bet your problem will go away.......
Neck tension is pretty individual to each barrel, some like it really tight, and others can be almost a hand press in fit and will work well too.........
That's the fun of it all, trying to find new stuff to help get that last little bit of accuracy out of each rifle......

Yeah, You really need a VLD tool. Is this hard seating just on virgin brass? I've noticed my 6BR Lapua necks are sticky till I fireform them, then it goes away.

I've used both the KLM deep angle cutter, a 28 degree cutter, and the std rocket-style 45 degree cutter. I think they all work, but with the KLM it's very easy to over cut.

When using any of the chamfer tools, make sure you've expanded the neck slightly to take out the dents first. You can do this with an expander mandrel or the button on a neck-sizer die.

After you've cut the chamfer, if you spin the tool backwards a couple turns it will smooth out the cut.
