6br loads

How high have you loaded powder in a case?
I'm running some lighter bullets this time (68g w/n135)
and have seen as high as 32.7g of powder.
That would be half way up the neck. (I tried it) Seems a little iffy.
Starting at 30.0 and work my way up slowly.

I've shot 32.5 Gr Varget behind 80 Gr Bergers with very good accuracy and no pressure issues in an 8 twist Hart. YMMV

I have 2 Br’s an one runs 33.6 of Benchmark with 68’s. The other gun runs 33.2 of 8208 with 65’s. These gun’s have a 14 twist and 13.5 twist and both shoot great.

Following this because I now have a 12 twist and shooting light weights...
On a whim a while back, I tried some Accurate 2495 with 80 grn Bart’s and 65 grn Bart’s. 33.5 grns yields around 3350 FPS with great accuracy out of a Krieger 12 twist.
34.5 grns, just about a full case, works great with the lighter bullets In the 65/68 grn range.
the one drawback is it is a tad courser than some powders, but I load with a Chargemaster Lite, so that is of no consequence.

I've ran 32.5 gr. of Varget and a 88 gr. Berger High BC Varmint FB at 3280 fps in a 29" Bartlien 5R 7.75" twist in a .268 neck straight 6 BR with CCI-450 primers.

I run AA2230 with 55-65g bullets, H335 with bullets up to 75g

Barrel life with the two above powders is 6000 rounds plus, amazing accuracy and speed.

I tried some of your recommendations with the A2230,... Rem 7 1/2 primers and Nosler 55gr ballistic tips and the accuracy just is not there in my 12 twist. All the way up to 35.0grs and the best they would do was about 1.750 at 200 yards. I dont think my barrel likes that A2230 cause no load with it showed any promise.

I'm still breaking in this barrel, going up .2 every time out
Just not use to seeing powder up into the neck area.
My freebore and light bullets allow it to happen, without
compressing the load.

That 2230 powder works real well in a 6BR and variations. Your barrel just may not like the BT bullet. Try the 55Blitzking and 58VMax, it made a difference in mine.

It does really well with the flat base Sierra 60gr Varminter bullet but,... with H4895 powder. Got some 64gr Berger "column" bullets to try as well. Tuning for a 12 twist is a whole new thing...

Those Sierra 60's are awesome, with 844 in a BRX. I haven't enough of them to use in any other guns.

Same here on the AA2230. Back in late 90's had old beat up truck rifle rem 700 22-250. Off with old, on with new barrel head spaced and go with a new 22" Lilja 12twist barrel. sweet spot was 34gr 2230 cci 450 & 55gr nosler bt and crazy accurate from untouched action. Had to have another a few yrs later and same outcome only difference was hart 12twist barrel. very accurate with 33.5-34gr 2230 and 55 bt's.

I have three 14T barrels and one 27" Lilja 12T, all were chambered with a zero freebore reamer, AA2230 with 55g -65g ...FAST and Super accurate! H335 seems to start off real well with 60-75g bullets in the 12T. Those 55's are doing 3900 in the 27" 12T shooting tiny bug holes at 100 and around an inch at 300 depending on the wind, sometimes less. LONG throat life with these two powders.

Barrels and lot# of powder can sure be different.

H335 I “read” folks having issues with it. Hard on throats, not hard on throats. Carbon issues, no carbon issues.

I have burned a wheel barrow full of it and never noticed any issue, heat, cold, carbon etc.
I am just starting to play with a 6BR again, having been with out one for a number of years. H335 caused me no issue I would attribute to its use. Usually made me smile.
I am going to put some loads together with 55’s-80’s and see what happens.

This barrel is a 1-8” Criterion. I can reach the throat with plenty of bullet in the neck. Worst thing is if I over do the RPM threshold. Had that problem with a 22 caliber, sorting out bullets for that one. I think most of the 6mms will stand all but ridiculous speeds.

I have a new 13.75 twist that is shooting 68 Bart’s really well with 8208xbr. I went up to 32.5 with excellent accuracy but hit occasional pressure. 30.2 looks like it’s going to work pretty well too.
I had planned on using n133 or n135 but I might just hit the brakes here.

Tried H335 and 2230 with the 64 column bullet in my 6mm BR and while they both gave good results it was AR-Comp that really gave the best accuracy.

Details with AR-comp. I have a few pounds of that on the back shelf. I read elsewhere that AR-comp is almost exactly the same as H4895?

My load is the 64 Berger .010 in lands, Laupa brass. CCI 450, with 31.5 grs AR-Comp. With this I get mid 1's - very low 2's from my trued 700. Very humble set-up.
