6br group

with 4 that tight and one shot out in almost the same place makes me think the load and rifle is good,,,possible scope issues,,but more than likely wind/mirage ,,or shooter error,,
Wind wasn't hardly blowing, and not enough to cause shot that far off. I'm thinking it was shooter error. Thanks for your reply.

you might try shooting a black target that you cant see the bullet holes and see how it goes,,,I would not change anything about the load or mess with the rifle,,,maybe let someone else shoot it,,

Good idea! Will give this a try. Thanks!

Here is the info. 6br .272 nk. 1/8 tw. 108 berger bt. br4 primer. Lapua brass. jam 5 thou. 300 yds. 29.5 gr RL-15. Set up on solid front rest. 5 shot each target. Anybody have a clue about the one flyer on each target?

Never saw a flier that big. Maybe it's something you did at the bench? Try it again. Do you have a good sight picture of the cross-hair on the target when the gun goes off. I shoot a 13.5 lb. varmint hunting rifle. I can see where the cross-hair is when the gun goes off and see it's movement under recoil. No blinking!

After i thought real hard about it, i remembered having trouble with the rear bag. I'm pretty sure
i threw that shot, on both targets. I'll start using a different rear bag & see how it goes. Thanks for the reply Webster.

same thing happened to me yesterday on targets 3 and 9. this was 200 yds off bipod. I'm convinced it was "muscling" the horizontal instead of lining up to aim pont correctly.

I went out today and used a different rear bag and problem went away. You got a little more vertical than i had.

That's a good way to put it, "muscling." I did the same thing. Bad rear bag setup, causing tracking problem.

When I was shooting like that, I finally settled on 2foulers 2 sighters b4 I started my group. Don't know if it was settling the bags or settling my mind but it worked pretty good for me. Work on your bench technique, watch good shooters ( really good shooters.) I used to watch Fred Hasecuster.

A shot that far out, especially the last shot, is almost always something major broke whether it be gun, scope, or most importantly you. You cant swap primer brands in the middle of a group and do that much less one that needs sorted. And its not annealing for sure. If its the last shot its usually you. Random shots could be scope or rests.

I have been shooting at 300 in a mixed calibre environment. A lot of fun over 5 targets and for an added hoot no wind flags except maybe 2 or 3 range flags at the side for 100 200 300. Mirage could easily distort your aim point and that is just one thing you have to accommodate under any circumstance. Try picking the most repeatable mirage condition that presents and always re aim to that. If there are flags, same thing. Even at 100 I have seen mirage that looked like a desert disaster and fellow competitors groups who did different suffered a similar fate. Good luck! (p.s I always liked 105Bgrs 30.1-30.3 of RL15 in mine, if you can chrono it gives you some extra info for your notebook)
