6BR using Hornady 108 gr. ELD-M

Killing Time

Since I built my 6BR, I have tried using several different bullets to see what all it likes. The Berger 105 hybrid target is an obvious choice, I've also tried the SMK 107 gr. and the Hornady 108 gr. ELD-M. While all of these have shot pretty dang good, I was kind of disappointed in the ELD-M's at 100 yds. They didn't really group like I had expected, especially after shooting the Berger 105's. Well, the 108's shined today. I was able to shoot some groups at 300 yds today and the 108's grouped better than they have since I started shooting them. They must do a lot better at longer ranges. I am looking forward to stretching the legs a little more on this one. This particular load was 30 gr. of Varget, .010" jump, CCI 450 and Lapua brass.6br03.jpg

Just put some Sierra 107's with 30.1gr of Varget, CCI 450's, 10 thousand jump, 28" Benchmark 1:8,
Peterson 6mmBr brass, 0.0015" neck tension. JGS 1262 reamer No Turn chamber.
Shot at 500yds for 100.9 2.89" group that would have gone just under 2" if not for #9...
Total for the day: 200.15
Have previously turned in a 200.14 at 600yds, again 2d string went 100.9
X ring is 4.5cm/1.77"
F Open off the mound with an Eliseo R5

Just guessing that by your shot timing, the wind was a bit twitchy? Nice shooting mate.

Flags were barely moving but had started to stir just slightly though I think #9 was perhaps “Pilot Error”… {:~/
There is a gully area at 200-300 and up/down draft can be hard to judge at times..
