I have just received a custom 6BR with a .262 neck. This rifle is a rem 700,trued) action with a shilen 10 twist stainless barrel. The reason i had the .262 neck chambered is because i have a boat load of brass already turned for this neck size. One thing i didnt notice until today was the difference in the flash hole sizes. Let me back up here a minute. I have around 200 pieces of Lapua 6BR brass and around 500 pieces of remington 7BR brass that has been sized and turned. It is the rem brass that has a much larger flash hole compared to the Lapua. What i would like to know is how all this translates, or means to me? Do i need to reduce the powder charges for the larger holed rem brass? Do i use more powder? Will the larger flash hoe cause accuracy issues? Basically just trying to get some useful info before i start load work. Thanks Lee

I think your rem. brass has a different size base, don't think it will work good in your chamber. Measure them against the Lapua..........jim

they have been fire formed for a similar chamber if not the exact same. they fit very well. I thought about that myself, but all is good as far as that goes. Thanks lee

fair enough!! I will most likely only use the rem brass for hunting situations anyway. That way if i loose a few its no big deal. I just didnt think much about the rem having a larger flash hole as i have never handled any until here lately. I didnt know that the remington brass had a bigger flash hole. I have read all the article pertaining to,or not to ream Lapua Br flash holes, but then you read were some guys still do it?? I am still learning, and i will let you folks know what i find out, when i compare the two different pieces of brass with what ever load i find my rifle likes. Thanks Lee

Its probably to early to tell but with 30gr of varget and a 75gr v-max the remington brass out shot the very same load in the Lapua brass. I fired two groups of 5 for each the rem and lapua brass with this load. I have a lot more work to do yet, so i wouldnt cal this a fact, just yet. I will keep you informed as i earn more. thanks fellas!! Lee
