6br, 95 Bergers & H4895

Since my knee replacement on February 21st, I finally got out of the house to the range to test the 6br bolt gun with the Benjamin 8 twist Palma barrel. I shot some 95 Bergers & 29 grains of H4895 off the bench and it grouped very well with RPA iron sights. I was excited for a change. I didn't have the courage to use a sling in prone - not yet, anyways. This surgery is not for just anyone.

It is good that you are out and about, resuming regular activities. I broke my ankle in two places 30 December last year and am just now beginning to walk fairly well. I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery.

As to the load: it seems a little light for that bullet weight. I use 30.0 H4895 with 105 VLDs for 2912 from a 30" barrel. There is no pressure indication at all. I have found better ES/SD numbers as loads approach (not exceed) factory operating pressure. It might be worth trying working up to another grain or two and see what it brings.

This is the group, off the bench at 100 yards with the RPA iron sights. I was mostly getting a new zero with the new sight mount. The group to the left is 7 shots (or maybe 8 shots). For me, this was pretty good.
