New 6BR / Updated with report

Yeah I may try some of the 87VLDs later. I'm going to do some further testing with Varget and the Bergers first and then the BIBs though. Has anyone ever tried AA2520 with this weight bullet? I'm fond of Varget but have some of this too and wondered.

Burn rate chart says the burn rate is in the right ball park. Of course, we all know that burn rate charts are pathological liars.

How is the case fill rate? Near 100% capacity? A full case is a happy case.

How does it meter compared to Varget or 8208 XBR?

How much do you have on hand? Enough to warrant working a load for it? Barrels have finite lives. If you work up a load with a powder that you don't have a good supply of, you've kind of wasted time and barrel life.

Don't know about fill but guessing somewhat less than Varget. AA2520 is a ball powder and meters well. I have an unopened 8lb jug of it that I got to use in my .308 semi autos and just have not tried it yet. I keep plenty of Varget on hand for .308 bolt guns so it was a natural place to start, plus its been good to me. Also have plenty of W748 on hand that I use in the semi. Would like to try some 8208 but finding new stuff is still pretty sporadic around here.

Did you mean AA2530 in the post immediately above?

8 lbs would last a good, long time. Not sure how it'll work for you, I haven't heard anyone shooting it.

Cool! Thought that was the case, but trying not to make assumptions.

Most of the precision folks seem to shy away from ball powder. I think it is for stability and clean burning issues. Hope the 2520 works for you. 8 lbs of it would make an expensive fertilizer.

If it doesn't work as an accuracy load, you can always fire form with it.

Here is a thread with some info: http://forum.accurateshooter.com/index.php?topic=3805315.0

Thanks. Won't have to worry about it being fertilizer if it doesn't work out. It'll work just fine for .308 semi loads. I use ball powder for them running through my Dillon. Thanks for the thread link.
