6BR 90BT Reloder 15 ! Need opinions

I’ve been shooting the 90s in a 30” Criterion 8 twist and having good results . Chrono says 3180 with 31g of Reloder 15 , .02 into the lands . No heavy bolt lift but getting a little cratering with 450s . Any one shooting this load ? Just wondering because a couple friends said it’s too hot but I am .4 under Max . I shot 1150 yards and my friend was using 105s in a 26” barrel and I believe I had about 3 moa less elevation than he did . Just hitting steel so not sure about accuracy . Really just wondering if I should stick with 90s or move to 108s ? All opinions welcome !

Thx

Mark

Firing pin probably needs to be bushed. According to the GRT you are under upper threshold but not far away. Also, it appears that you have a fast barrel

My internal ballistic program says the same.
Reasonal pressure but that speed says your faster than normal and possible pressure is higher than predicted.
Primers show a symptom, pressure is not necessarily the cause.

I have been shooting Berger 90,s at 31.5 of re 15 in a 10 twist hart barrel at 200 yds only with Lapua brass at .010 cram with no primer problems and easy bolt lift but we all know every rifle is diff. Gary

I have easy bolt lift but definitely cratering . Is your bolt bushed ? I’m using an unmodified Savage target action . I read if I put a little more radius on firing pin it would help .

Savage’s are well known for constant craters
In mine a aftermarket bolt head with tighter pin bore fixed it.
Radius might help if pin bore is decent.

I’ve also read where some guys say just live with cratering because it’s not really hurting anything . Is this true ? I’m using 450s and it’s not awful . Probably be popping 205s .

That is bad advice. Blown primers follows cratering when they get bad enough. These wouldn't go in the shell holder.
