6br 58 gr Vmax load info

Just got my 14 twist 6br barrel back and I am trying to figure out a load for PD hunting I will be using the 58 grain Vmax. So far I have tested Varget It shoots very well 1 inch or better @ 375 yards. My Varget load is 34 grains but the case is almost completly full, powder is 3/4 up the neck. I am used to compressed loads with the big VLD's but I have never filled up a case like that. It shoots very well and there are no signs of pressure anyone else run this load ?

WRT 58gr Vmax, non coated, with Varget, in my 1-14 lijla I stopped at 33, groups were growing after 32.5. No pressure signs at 33 though. This was .005 off the lands, OAL to the bearing surface was 1.685. Max load in the Hodgdon book for 58 gr Vmax is a compressed load of 34.0 gr. I am having great results (.1s & .2s) with 8028 XBR & AA2015 with the 58 Vmax.

I am using 32.5 gr 8208 with 65 gr V-maxes and it shoots! It seemed to fair better than Varget and R15. This it out of a custom XP-100 pistol with a 16" Hart 1-13 twist barrel. They are going around 2960.

There's nothing wrong with a compressed load. If your gun shoots that well I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is 14twist and I shoot mostly 55/58's. Most accurate loads are with AA2230 at from 3777 - 3920 depending.....max powder charge is over 35.0gr. This powder varies from lot to lot.

34.0 grains of AA2230 gets me 3850 fps, 32.0 grains of N133 gets me 3800 fps, N133 shoots much more accurately for me.

i use h 4895 around 35gr to push the 58gr v max with a 14 twist hart barrel. works very well. i mite try that varget load soon though, never hurts to try something new, thanks

I use 34.5 grn. Varget in my Hart 1 in 14" with 65 grn. Hornady V-Maxes. It's a bit warm but extremely accurate.

I load 28-29g Reloader 7 in mine and it is scary accurate and should make a good load for you.
