I'd give it a try using a false shoulder. You could probably get by with hard jam and heavy neck tension but I think the false shoulder method is much better at holding the case against the bolt face. That yields more consistent cases with less stretch in the web area.I have picked up some PPC from Brunos recently (Norma). It was backup for the 6 PPC , I guess I could pull 10-20 from there and give it a shot. I have the "tools" to do the work.
I figured I'd go up to 25 cal set the shoulder size neck back to 6mm and go from there.I'd give it a try using a false shoulder. Sounds like a good plan to me.I figured I'd go up to 25 cal set the shoulder size neck back to 6mm and go from there.
Good luck. You might find a straggler box somewhere or find someone willing to sell you some but I'm not aware of any distributors sitting on any of the Lapua. I was able to source a couple of boxes out of Canada before that last shipment came in, via a friend of a friend kinda thing.Have a new box of Starline 6.5 grendel brass, waiting for my attention, not that difficult to transform to 6 ARC. Maybe before I have to do that I can find some Lapua brass. Maybe.
Everyone have a great evening.!
It depends on what you do. If you compete and reload significant amounts you may want Starline, if you practice CQB, carry for self defense and hunt Hornady will serve fine.Which brass is better? A simple Honrnady or Starline answer please or other (name).
Good luck running across anyNeither.......
Lapua 6.5 Grendel, bump the shoulders back, trim to length, enjoy perfection......
My factory Aero Precision 6MM ARC upper and Aero Precision lower is capable of that with factory ammo. It's use will be target/varmint to 400-500 and not much further. Before any other cartridges are brought up I pretty much have that covered. I just wanted another cartridge with some economy and common use of bullets and powders and I have a PTG bolt in the safe needing to be put to use.
I've had two Aero uppers, and wasn't impressed with either......My factory Aero Precision 6MM ARC upper and Aero Precision lower is capable of that with factory ammo.
I got lucky with mine, it averages 1/2" at 100 yards, not as good as my Remington 700 in 6MM Remington or my Howa 1500 in 223 Remington but hood enough for chucking.I've had two Aero uppers, and wasn't impressed with either......
You can no longer go to a store and buy a rifle and know for certain that it's a quality rifle. There's just so many amateurs building rifles, just because there's a name on the upper or lower, it just doesn't mean shit.In what way?
