6arc bolt gun and fur damage

I won a custom bolt action rifle in a coyote contest and I’ve all but settled on the 6arc. I’ve had a handful of guys tell me if they push a 58gr Vmax around 3500FPS, they don’t get exits, and it flattens coyotes with authority. I also like it because it’s designed to be efficient in shorter barrels. Does anyone else have feedback on a 6arc bolt action for coyotes?

My other options would be 22 arc, but I’m having a harder time finding information since it’s relatively new still. And lastly would be a 20 Practical.

Max distance I shoot is around 300 yards with a large majority between 80 and 150

All should work great, caliber wise. But, if you do not place the shot correctly, it will not matter. This is the single most important issue based on shooting a few coyotes in my time. Personally, I would choose which ever cartridge you like the most and roll with it. Enjoy your new toy.

With your expected ranges, I'd go with the .20 Practical. 32 gr. and 40 gr. class bullets out of a 1:11 twist will shoot way better than minute of coyote and the terminal performance will be more than adequate. I'd load 39 gr. Blitz Kings or 40 gr. V-Max and have at it.

Coyotes only then pick one as others have said. If you might use rifle for antelope, deer or as a youths hunting rifle then 6 ARC. It has more all around muscle.

I like mine…. And you can go up to 115 gr bullets if needed.

I've got a Howa Mini in 6mmARC. It shoots a few different bullets well, and my best so far have been with the Sierra 85 BTHP, the Speer 70 TNT and the Speer 75 HP. All will hold under MOA for 5 shots. I've only shot a buck with the 85, and just paper with the rest. That 85 load shoots sub ¾ MOA out to 200 for 5 shots.

It's a pretty versatile cartridge, and I really like mine. You'll probably find a few different loads that it likes, and it'll fill a few different roles for you.
