What would you start out with (grains of N135) using a BAT B action (or M) Lapua brass (no turn), I'm interested in trying some 68 Avengers in this (Light jam?).N-135
Thanks

N135 is about as good as it gets for light bullets in a 6br.What would you start out with (grains of N135) using a BAT B action (or M) Lapua brass (no turn), I'm interested in trying some 68 Avengers in this (Light jam?).

Yes, that would be too hot in my 6BR, or are you shooting one of the Improveds? I find around 32.0 to be about right in most. Still not a pussycat load. Again, straight 6BR with 65-68 gr bullets.33.5 gr N135 (2017 lot) was/is my top end max load with a BAT B action, Lapua Brass, 269 neck, shooting 68 gr Avengers @ 3 jump from a 4 groove 12 twist Bartlien barrel.
As always reduce load and work up!
My barrel prefers Varget or Precision. 135, not so much, spikey groups.N135 is about as good as it gets for light bullets in a 6br.
It very well might but I find Varget to be too slow for the light bullets and can usually be beat with several different powders. Obviously, there's exceptions to that. Never shot Precision Powder, so can't sayMy barrel prefers Varget or Precision. 135, not so much, spikey groups.
I never worry about the speed as long as I am getting tiny groups, within reason, that is. I haven't ever been able to beat poor wind flag reads with speedy loads. It very well might but I find Varget to be too slow for the light bullets and can usually be beat with several different powders. I was referring to accuracy too. Not that it can't shoot well in some but I've bought several BR's that the owner only tried Varget in and never shot great. Get the gun and use 135 or h322 and instantly shoot small. Again, there's exceptions to just about everything but I can't remember ever seeing Varget be the best powder for light bullets in any that I've owned or loaded for.I never worry about the speed as long as I am getting tiny groups, within reason, that is. Then on the other hand you chambered a barrel with a "general load suggestion" (not necessarily a light bullet (90 gn)) and it shot great! So you don't know until you try!!I was referring to accuracy too. Not that it can't shoot well in some but I've bought several BR's that the owner only tried Varget in and never shot great. The 90's are a different ballgame though. I knew that Varget load had worked well for me before with 87-90 grainers, so it was a good place to start. Then on the other hand you chambered a barrel with a "general load suggestion" (not necessarily a light bullet (90 gn)) and it shot great! The lot of 8208 I had did not work in my rifle or a friend's rifle.I use my 6BR for varmint hunting. Mostly 58 GR Hornady & 60 Gr Sierra. I tried mostly H322, Varget, RE15, Varget and RE15 100-150 fps slower. H322 & 8208 are faster. I use nothing but 8208 now. The 60 gr Sierra Varminter is an excepttinal bullet.
