65 gr VMAX in 6mm BR ?

Hi ladies & gents
i have just had my trued rem 700 in 6mm ppc converted to a 6mm br with a no turn neck it still has the 1 in 14 22 inch barrel & i want to shoot the molly coated 65 gr v-max bullets but as some of our powders are labled different here in Australia does any one know what a good load would be using benchmark 2,BM2) ??

I have read of a load using 30grns of N133 but this powder is not stocked in many gun shops.

Check out these links. I think 133 may be a little fast based on my LIMITEDexperience, but it may work.

Just do a search in the forumshere, lotsa good stuff/information for 14 twist 6BR's

i think the stuff you guys call Varget is made & sold in Australia under the name AR2208 & is available pretty much everywhere .
so i might give it a go with 34.0 grns behind the 65 v-max.

I've had a lot of success with H335 28.7g with the 65 v-max in my 1-14 twist.

Hi from Melbourne

AR 2219 is the same burn rate as 322 and it works great with a 65 VM,non moly) in a sporter I had built for culling under the S-light.
What use are you planning with this rifle- hunting or comp?? for hunting you dont need to push the VM mega quick- they open up anyways. Just find a nice accurate load that doesn't overload the brass and enjoy choosing which eyeball you want to shoot through. Custers have put the price of brass up again so you dont want to waste brass life by trying to squeeze the last FPS out of it. I have hits on the 500M fly target with my load.

I am currently using RL-10X with the 65 VM because I got a great price deal on it.
If you are anywhere near central Vic I can give you the name of the place thats selling it.

I am using 30 grains of Rl-10X and I'm getting groups not much larger than a 10C piece- this is from a light sporter barrel, hunting type NOT BR see pic) that was re-chambered and shortened to 6BR from factory .243

I do zero case prep aside from a quick champher and my loads are thrown direct into the case.

From the aussies I have talked to loading the BR case it's 2219, BM2 for the light projectiles and 2208 and 2206H for the heavy stuff.

Thanks Ogre6br
i after reading some of the links on a previous answer i called a gun shop in albury who supplied v 135 so i took a trip down there & picked some up.
the rifle will be used for targets only so the most important part is getting the 65 gr vmax to stabalize in my short barrel .
i also have some 2208 & will take it to the range as well & load test there.
ps nice tikka ....

it might be worth giving the 70 TNT a try and maybe the 75 V-max.

Lotsa 30 BR guys like the 125 TNT -so the 70 might be worth a go in your 6BR.
mine like is as well.

Have you used the 70gr TNTs?

How do they shoot, and how fragile are they.

I bought some but haven't loaded them yet.

.

my 1:10 twist like em.
groups are about 10% larger than my 65 V-max loads.

They create nice paddock pizza on rabbits.
So far haven't hit anything larger than a full grown rabbit.

Well i ended up loading up to 32 grns of N135 without any preasure signs befor the wind started to blow like hell ...still managed some groups about .4
but after talking to the gent who i bought the rifle off who at the time told me it needed a new barrel . i asked him how many rounds had the barrel had & was told about 4500 so its getting a new barrel asap....then the testing starts again..

My 1 in 14" Hart 6mm BR will shoot 65 grn. V-Maxes as accurately as custom bullets using 31.0 grn. VVN-135 with Fed. Match primers and 34.5 grn. Varget using CCI 450 mag. primers.

You guys will get a lot better barrel life out of your 6 BR's shooting the light bullets if you switch over to H335, velocity will be in the 3600 fps with the 65's,26" bbl) shooting very tiny groups. Use a 7 1/2,a CCI BR-2, or a CCI-450 primer.

Thats a pretty interesting statement. Whats your hypothesis concerning H-355's attributes towards barrel longevity.
