60grn Nosler Partition in 1-14 twist?

I killed a lot of deer with a max load of imr 4350, win primer, Rem case. Groups 1 1/4"-1 1/2" in a 14T Rem 700, massive damage on deer. You don't need benchrest groups on a deer at shorter range. If you shoot them on the shoulder, you will throw away the front half of the deer, massive damage...

they don't run off!

Run those 60 partitions at normal 22-250 speeds with a 60 grain bullet and I think you'll get very impressive results in your groups. The longer 60 BTs will not stabilize but the partitions will surprise you. Like ackleymanII said, you'll get alot of destruction on shoulder area shots.

I loaded those bullets in a 1-14" twist 22-250AI and while they appeared to stabilize, the groups were worse than a Model 94 30-30. If the 22-250 is your only centerfire then go for it.

Will a 60grn Nosler Partition stabilize in a 1-14 twist running out of a 22-250?

Thanks
Matt
Load them at saami spec for oal. (Try 2.415 for COAL). You'll get the best results that way. AckleymanII stated he didn't get great accuracy ( 1-1.5 moa) but fine for deer. May or may not be the case. Give us your results.

This is my experience as well, and it is not for lack of trying to find or "work up" a load....I tried these bullets in a 1-in-14, 1-in-9 and 1-in-8. About a 3.5" to 4" group was the best I could do before finally calling it quits.
It just seems like you can never get it all in one package...it's just asking too much to have one of the best bullet designs ever dreamed up to actually shoot accurately. Nosler doesn't exactly give these bullets away either!!!

Many game animals and even more varmints with the 55 Sierra BT GameKing but never could get anything in the 60gr to shoot from mine and I'm talking covering the pattern with a 6" pie plate bad! I've had wonderful results with that Sierra bullet from 250 and 223 on game but sadly never could get the 60's to work. It is rather hard on deer and most of the time you will loose some meat :( I've gone to neck shots plus they are easier to track. Best of luck in your efforts and hope they are better than mine were. Later,

Kirk

60g partition, Max load of 4350, jump them. Kill stuff real dead. Deer look like they have been shot with a 300 Winchester mag with 150g!

I used a Rem 700 sporter, 14T.

No bullet will make up for a bad hit, but the 60g partition at 3500 is one of the best lung shooting combo's I have ever used. You will have to see the damage to believe it, deer flop.
