600 and 1000yd competition

Hi folks,
I reside in northern Vermont. If you belong to the Burlington pistol and Rifle club there are 2-3 shoots a year at 600 and 1000yds.Most of the shoots are high power and across the course, Only 1 F class. I would like to know if there are any locations
in New York or New England that have 600 and 1000yd ranges or shoots for benchrest or F Class.
Thanks
Dobber

dobber,

I shoot F-Class (between the State Championship in May and the 2 Matches a month in July, Aug. and Sept. I shot there 7 times this past year, winning the VT FTR Championship with a .223 Rem. in May) at the Ethan Allen Range in Jericho, VT, the longest is 600 yards that is open to the public (Range 4-1), the VSRPA and the BRPC both hold different Matches there through out the year depending on the VTANG Training. F-Class is part of High Power, not a totally seperate Class, we lost, or I should say had to reschedule a couple of Matches due to Training in Sept., which kept the VT. shooters out of the Peru, NY NRA Matches.

NRA Approved F-Class Matches are held at Peru, NY, Matches are held May-Oct. on the 2nd Sunday of the month, RAIN or SHINE 8am, $15 Fee, 5 min. Unlimited sighters then 3 relays of 15 for Record, for futher info you can contact me.

Ethan Allen: http://vsrpa.org/

The only other local if you can call them that is Forbes in Albany, NY with a 1,000 yard Prone Matches: http://www.forbesrifleandpistolclub.org/directions.htm and

and 600 yd. at Scarbough, ME: http://www.scarfg.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/Rifle

in Oct. each year at the Keene, NH Range, they hold prone Matches

I have tried to get something else going in the Northern NY area near Watertown (Fort Drum) but to no avail.

Forbes Rifle Range near Albany NY actually it is colonie NY and they have 600 and 1k matches along with the NYS championship. F-class are welcome. Then you can always travel to Reade Range in PA for Matches. I think Quantico Shooting club has matches.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the info. Are you from NY or VT? I have been a past member of BPRC and they usually had only two F class
matches a year. I have not shot in 3-4 years. I was planning to move to NC where it is a hotbed of all kinds of long range shooting but I have been unable to sell my house
and have had some health issues to prevent me from competing. However, it looks like I am staying in Vermont and will rejoin the club. Most of the guys are highpower shooters and so can choose from many matches. My interest lies in long range benchrest whiich non-existent in
Vermont so consequently I only know shooting opportunities in the south. Well, again thanks for the info.
