600/1000 yd Ideal Scopes?

View attachment 1011092
I received the Kahles yesterday and shot it some yesterday at 100 meters and today at 200 yards. It is a large, heavy scope that is expensive, but I feel privileged to have a chance to shoot this optical instrument. I am not ready to write an article about it yet, but I will say that my initial tests have been impressive. As with all new scopes, I shoot the "square" and this scope performed flawlessly. I fired two shots at my aiming point to establish a zero; and I followed with a series of 5 MOA adjustments (left, up, right, and down) the last shot made my 3-shot group into a .107" c to c spread at 100 meters. More to follow. James

Playd with one last weekend, fantastic scope!

At 600 in great conditions w my nf comp 6mm in wht are easy to see, in blue- not so much. Havn' t shot high master in conditions good enough to see 6mm in wht yet.

Also, at 600 in all conditions I've used it in, my Kowa 88 Prominar can easily see 6mm in wht or blue, FWIW.
what power eye piece do you use on the Kowa? thanks

James,
Since you are going to conduct some comparison test, why weren't March Scopes included? I don't compete and honestly can't afford a Nightforce, a March or any of the other high end scopes mentioned. And considering that there are many differing opinions of how well a scope performs, some if it is based in part on varying eyesight capabilities. So I'm just curious to see what your test shows and would love to see a comparison of apple to apples and not just a select group of fruit from the orchard. Good luck and have fun.

I tested a March 10x-60x Tactical about 3 years ago, and I can tell you that it is a fine scope. I was a little hesitant to ask for another this soon. I shot the Kahles for the first time in competition today. It was a 30 shot match on the old IBS target with 1.5 inch ten ring. The scope performed magnificently and I finished with a 296 shooting a 6 ppc with 65 gr bullets. Good shooting.....James

James,
YOU DE MAN! I was thinking I know James knows alot and is good for his testing. But I thought I'd throw that out for the March lovers so they wouldn't feel slighted. And you didn't disappoint.

BTW, just curious, when you shot that 296 in your 6ppc, were those Bart's 65's? Just curious. And thx for the scope clarification. Good luck in your shoots.

Alex

Today, I received the Vortex Golden Eagle 15x-60x X 52mm. It is an impressive looking scope and I look forward to testing it. Right now, we in LA are waiting for the rain from tropical storm Cindy , so I may be a little late testing this new scope. Maybe I can match it up with my 6mm BR-AI (yet to be chambered) and have an un-beatable combo.:D Good shooting....James
