600/1000 Yard Benchrest Shooting Technique Tips?

Thanks everyone for the great tips. I plan to incorporate them into my shooting, and no doubt will see some improvement!

Ditch the 8 oz trigger for something in the 2 oz range.

Hard to ditch the 8oz. trigger on a Savage for a 2oz. I have a better idea……. ;) The first thing i would do is buy or make some wind flags. while i was waiting for them i would balance the gun and it has to weigh 17 lb. or less balanced. Balance it 2" ahead of the receiver. I tape a plastic bag to the rear of the stock and add lead shot till you get where you want it,if you have a hole under the butt plate, mix the shot with epoxy and put it in the hole. The other way is to melt it down and form a weight with a piece of copper pipe, it takes less room . If your over, i would get rid of some weight some where. You sure don't need a 30 " barrel, i would cut it back to 28" or aluminum rings and mount ……… jim O'Hara
