6 XC hunting load with 87 VMax's?

I know the 6XC was developed for the heavier bullets. Seems all the load info is for 105 and heavier bullets. But I want to shoot lighter bullets in mine for hunting coyotes at longer ranges. I have a 6 BR that is very accurate as you would suspect. But the 6 XC just has more fps for helping with wind & yardage guessing in the field.

I have a 1-8 twist so the 87 VMax bullets ought to work great. The problem is with powders, I have several but limited in how much of each. Hard to get more during this crazy shortage we are going thru. Has anyone here had much success with the lighter bullets and what loads are you using? Thx for your help

I have a 1-7.5 Twist 6XC and load, 41.3 Grs of IMR 4350 with, the 80 gr F/ Base Varmint Bergers ( COAL of, 2.565" ) approx. .025 "Jump" or 80 gr Sierra "Varminters" #1515 ( Same Powder chge ) with a COAL of, 2.460" Both with, CCI Pr's. The 6 XC and .243 Win. both work well with, N-160, IMR 4350 and StaBall 65 for, 80 to 95 grain Bullets.
I use 6 Creed Data on Hogdon's Site and Back OFF about 2.5 -3 grains, LESS powder, to Start for my 6 XC loads.
For some reason, the 87 V-Maxes did NOT shoot, "consistently well" for me, But did Shoot great, in my 1-10 TW Tikka .243 Win., Go Figure ! For longer ranges, I use, 41.0 of StaBall with, Berger's 95 Grain BTHP Classic Hunter bullet ( one ragged Hole, in the 3's ) with .050 "Jump". I let my Grandson Plink Steel with, the .243 & V-Maxes.
Use Caution and work up loads carefully ! Good luck !

Same story here.....Luckily there was the 105 Amax.....and we all know what happened there. I know you wanted 87 Vmax load info but as mentioned, I've never had any luck.....My new go-to bullet is the 105 Berger VLD hunting....tough to find sometimes.....but will DESTROY a prairie dog at 800 yards.....Ask me how I know?

I just found the 6xc load data on the Hodg site, but it only list Accurate and Ramshot loads

I use, 6 MM Creedmoor Data,.. LESS 2.5 to 3.0 Grains to "Start" working up, my loads.
Watching Primers closely and Miking the Base at, the .200 Dimension on Case.
I have had, NO "Problems" as the 6 Creed case, is very close, dimension, wise.
I use Norma Brass, with a .104 Freebore Chamber and always stay, a little under, Max loads. ( for Accuracy).
I threw away, my 87 V-Max load Data, but am thinking that, I used both, StaBall and IMR 4350.
Probably around 42 grains, of StaBall, tho.,.. As I use 41.0 grs of, Staball with, the 95 grainers = 3,075 FPS in 24" bbl.
Sadly, there is not much actual, 6 XC Data out there !

@ 6MMsteve,..
There are, 6mm - 250 and 6 mm Creed, load Data FOR, 85, 90 and 95 grain bullets ( both Cart's ) using H-4350, H-4895, StaBall and IMR 4350. NOTE that, the 6-250 "Pressures" are Lower than, the Creed's.
I went in between these 2 Carts, to get my Powder chge Loads / Estimated Velocity for, the 6 XC.
Stay, a couple of, grains BELOW the 6MM Creedmoor, Charges ! Every Bullet HAS, a different length of, Bearing Surface Dimension and Jacket "Hardness" when "straying" from, the Bullet Hogdon,.. uses !
Again "work up" your loads, carefully,. Good luck !

Vitav has 6xc load data for their powders, and Hodgdon has 6xc load data but with only 2 powders 3 types and 7 bullet wts, 90 to 115 grs, go up on rifle data instead on down to 6mm and it's right there

I thought that, Hogdon had SOME 6XC Load data ( you're,.. right ! ).
Yup, I knew about, VhitaVouri Data and have used "some", N-160 loads.
StaBall, shoots so WELL with the 95 grain Berger and Meters, Perfectly that, IT has spoiled, me !

it does give you a little baseline to use on the Hodgdon site, kinda tweek from there

Seems like, there was some "Pet" Load Data discussed on Here,.. a couple of years ago.
Have you done, a "Search" ?? The 6XC "was" very Popular,.. Til' the 6 Creed hit !

Nosler has 6xc data as does western powders. I have shot 55 gr bullets out of a 1/8 and it was fine. You can take just about any load for 105ish weight and load that same charge with 87s. It may not be as fast but it's probably still fast enough.
