6 mm Remington rifle

Will Remington arms put the 6 mm Remington rifle back in production I hope so I would buy one if they did .

Howdy !

No… they won’t.

The 6mm Remington has had its decades “ in the Sun “.

Like the rival .243 Winchester…. newer whizz bang 6mms that have adequate case capacity & case features/dimensions today’s shooters often prefer; have displaced the former 6mm factory chamberings leaders. The .243 and 6mm Remington basically had more case capacity than the intervening years of shooter use has proven to actually be needed.

Moreover, the more-recent 6mm case designs have proven their worth.

Ok thanks guys I just like the idea of the 6 mm Remington . I have a 243 and like it don’t get me wrong but to me the 6 mm Remington is better.

I have a 6mm Rem AI and I wouldn't trade it for any other 6mm on earth. I'll always have one. Same goes for my 257 AI. Hornady is famous for reinventing the wheel

I inherited an early Rem 700 VS 6mm BDL from my father. I did all the handloading for him so I know the round count is about 200. It shot bug-holes with 100gr Speers & the now defunct Norma 205 powder. He bought it as an accurate deer rifle, but didn't hunt with it much because the weight of the heavy barrel was starting to bother him. I researched the rifle when I first inherited it & was surprised that it was a pretty rare rifle. IIRC, it has a 1:9 twist. All original except he had the stock professionally glass bedded. No pillars because it was before pillars became a "thing"! LOL

Last month I just rebarreled my rem 700 3006 to 6mm Rem Ackley Improved.
Just got the brass formed and started load development. Got .5 moa group at 200 yards with 105 Hybrids and 105 Hvld...at 3350 fps with Reloder 26.
Tomorrow I am trying N165.

I was lucky enough to buy a VLS in 6mm Remington before they were discontinued. It’s probably a rare chance but you might find one that hasn’t been shot a lot. If I wanted another I’d be sending a PM to Infrequent Shooter!
I bought a VLS 6mm new in the late 90s and it was extremely accurate,, I shot it about 4000 times and traded it for a VSSF-II when the 204 came out.
I’ve got a Model 7 6mm still and it’s a shooter also
