6 groove barrels

I was cruising Kriegers site and see they have a couple 6mm .237 15 twist 6 groove bbls in stock,,I am in planning stages of a 6BR .268 neck zero freebore to shoot the 60 Sierra and similar light weight bullets mainly at 100 yards but 200 and 300 some also,,

are there any advantages to a 6 groove over the 4 grooves ?? I think they use to be more widely used than they are now but I have no experience with a 6 groove bbl ,,

I bought a 6mm blank from Krieger once. It too was 6 groove and I remember asking the guy why they made them 6 groove. He said, "because some guys think they need it." He went on to say that the number or configuration of grooves didn't matter.

OK...refresh me......What is it about the 5R that BBL makers get a $20.00 primium for them.

No...but I know that when I baught my last batch of BBLs I had a choice. Take the Kreiger 6mm.....4 groove, or for an additional $20.00 I could get a 5R. I think someone gets a royalty check for every "5R" any MFGR sells.
