6 Dasher sporter rifle barrel length

I am considering a 6 Dasher in a sporter configuration for my daughter. I would like the gun to be handy so I don't want a huge barrel. How would this rond do out of a 24" barrel?

Thanks.

I have a short-barreled 6mm dasher. It's about a 22" barrel. It shoots really well. I have no idea what kind of velocity I'm getting with it... I've never put it over the chrono...

It's an 8 twist barrel, that shoots well under a minute (usually about half if I do my part) with the 95gr VLD's and the 105 AMAX

I built my Dasher with a 26" barrel and it's pretty easy to handle and get around with.

I used a lighter taper in the barrel and a good lightweight stock. Gun weighs in at 11.75 pounds.

Go ahead and build it, you'll love it.

No reason for a 24" barrel either...... 22 is plenty for a handy stick.

Mine's a 22" Rock eight twist, screwed to a S/S 700, sitting in a McMillan Classic stock, topped off with a 3.5-10 CDS Leupold. I built it to shoot 95 VLD's and it runs them at 3060.

Great coyote medicine..........

hey alf will it feed from the magazine?

Sure does. I've put together several 22 and 6 Dashers and they all feed just fine w/o the Bryants conversion. It usually helps to polish the action rails and feed ramps, and some times having to tweak the magazine boxes.

I wouldn't hunt coyotes with a single shot.......
