6 Dasher - Berger Bullets Question

I'm close to having my first 6 Dasher build completed, and I'm searching for bullets. I'd love to find some Berger 105 Hybrids, but since they're harder to find that hen's teeth, I'm exploring other options. Looking at Berger's "2020 Berger Bullet Quick Reference Sheet" (attached), their 105gr. VLD hunting bullet has a greater G7 BC than the 105 Hybrid target bullet. So, why is the 105 Hybrid more popular in the PRS crowd than the 105 VLD Hunting bullet? My main purposes for this build are 600 yard steel shoots and I'm going to try a PRS shoot or two this year.

In my experience the hybrids are eaiser to tune and more jump tolerant. Ur milage may vary and others may have different experiences with them but that is what i have experienced.

For a field rifle and VLD’s jump the heck out of them. You get rid of the pickiness that way. Follow Bergers seating test and see if you can find a distant spot they like. They aren’t as popular because they are old school and the hybrids are the newer kid on the block :)

I don’t think the hybrids are necessarily “easier” to tune for me, since I’m testing in .003 increments either way, but they definitely stay in tune longer as they have a wider window. I spend more time shooting and less tuning when using hybrids.

The HVLD is an excellent bullet though, as is the 108 BT, which is pretty much always available.

I haven't tried them all but been able to get outstanding accuracy out of every bullet I have tried in my Dashers. The 115 DTACs and 115 Bergers are what I shoot in my PRS rifle. The 105s didn't group any better for me and the better BC of the 115s is a benefit in PRS matches. As WSyder suggested, I jump mine between 0.070" and 0.120".

In one of my 6mm Dasher rifles, I shoot the Berger 105 VLD Hunting bullets for the 1st firing of the Alpha Non-OCD 6mm Dasher Brass. It's a mild load of Varget and shoots quite well.

I have two Dashers. They flat drill holes with 105 HB. and 108's
My one rifle with a Brux 1-7.5 Same Reamer loves old Sierra 107's ?

I have tried 105 VLD Berger's and 103 VT yet to see a Killer Group ?

Don't get stuck on a particular bullet or the highest B.C. bullet.
Many will shoot good.
The Sierra 107's will do fine also.
Look at the Vapor Trail VT's(103g) you can usually get them quicker
Give Tom a call and see.
