Question for 6 Dasher shooters

Just got my November birthday present and ready to shoot as soon as it warms up Bat B action Kreiger 1 in 8 twist. Now
for question....I have the following bullets in stock: all Berger

105 VLD Target
105 Hybrid Target
108 BT Target

Which would you try first? I know....I know.....every barrel etc. but want to hear advice anyway.

Try them all with 32.5gr Varget seated to just touch. Then try them all with 32.8gr R-15 seated to just touch. When you finish that you will have a good idea of which one to keep trying. Those are pretty standard loads for a Dasher, give or take a couple of tenths.

Good luck and enjoy your new Dasher.

I like the VLD in the rifling .010. That bullet has consistently shot smaller in 1000 yard BR. The 108 has worked good in most my guns and a little easier to tune. They just wouldn't shoot quiet as small. The Hybrid I couldn't get to shoot in any of my guns near as good. Matt

Try the VLD's first. If they shoot, don't waste barrel life with the others. Nothing wrong with Reloader 15 either. Do a ladder test to find your nodes and max charge weight. Start .010" into the lands and then back away .040" at a time up to .110" off the lands when testing groups. When you find what she likes tune depth up or down .003" at a time. Then just have fun!

With these loads what velocity can you expect, what length barrel.
Thank you

Steve,
I use 30 to 31" finished barrel lengths. 32.8 of RL15 will yield 3030 to 3070f/s from 105 class bullets.

I have had good results with 105 VLD's (20K jump) & 34.7 grains of Vihtavuori N550. 1:8 twist. I have just had a dasher built with a 1:7.5 that should do well with the 105 hybrids.

I shot the 105VLD's for a long time, then tried the 108's. The difference is small, but for me the 108's shot more consistently, the more shots that are fired in a match. IE, 5 round groups about the same, but in a 20rd. match, the 108's hammer. 32.5 RL15 and BR4's, .040" jump.
