6 Creed Brass difference

Does anyone strongly prefer one brand of brass over the others for the 6 Creed? If so, please explain why. Thanks for your input!

I’m using Lapua 6.5 Creed necked down to 6...but I also have 200 pieces of Peterson SRP to try out. It is important to understand that there are case capacity differences between all the brands.

I have some Alpha, Hornady and just got some ADG today, all LRP brass, all top grade brass, I'd put all of them up against Lapua any day.

I sometimes just ask myself, "when has Lapua brass failed you". Then which brass did you not care for. In this day and age with all the fanboys, tough to get a non biased opinion on anything.
I've wanted to try alpha brass, anything I want has never been in stock when I look. The new rage is adg, no clue who adg is. If a trusted friend endorses a product, I may bite, you can guess the rest.

Sticking with Lapua. I just mandrel sized 100 pieces for loading and ALL are perfect. Not to say that the Peterson brass, of the same 6mm Creedmoor SRP, doesn't work well too! But I couldn't use the same mandrel , on the Peterson brass, and get the same bullet tension. Also the Lapua primer pockets seat a little tighter than the Peterson brass. Not much, but you can feel the difference.

I'm headed to the range tomorrow to test out my new Lapua 6mm Creedmoor SR brass. I'll be doing some ladder tests against Peterson 6mm Creedmoor SR brass. Same loads in each brand of brass. Just wanting to see if there will be much difference in where the nodes are per brand.

Please chime in after your evaluation, and share your results. I just bought some Lapua 6mm Creed brass too, and I'm hoping for good results.

Just worked up 105gr loads with Lapua(6.5 necked down) and Starline brass.
I was able to reach 3200fps using RL17 and the Lapua primer pockets are as new .1710 and extraction was easy..
Starline brass is very rough (mouths and flash holes) and primer pockets started to open up at my starting load of 3050fps.
Starline is half the price. You get what you pay for.

FYI, I decided to go back to 6 Dasher, so I have the Lapua brass for sale in the classifieds. 100pcs necked down, annealed and skim turned to remove runout and doughnut (.2715-.2720 loaded OD). 50pcs unfired. 50pcs once fired.
$90 shipped.CONUS (loading block shown not included)

Ok, my results so far with the Peterson and Lapua 6mm Creedmoor SRP brass. The differences to me are that the Lapua brass is .0005" thicker on the necks, the primer pockets don't have as much of a chamfer making the length of the pocket walls taller or longer (which to me is probably why the Lapua pockets seem a little tighter), and the annealing goes farther down the case from the shoulder. With that said, Ladder tested 105gr Hornady HPBT Match, RL-16 from 39.3 - 42.1grs, CCI-450 primers, seated at 2.710" OAL which is .015" off the lands for my RPR (short throated by Ruger). This was virgin brass also, so I'll test again next time against X1 F/L bushing sized for better results. Or at least comparison results. Factory barreled 24" with less than 50 rds thru it gave me speeds from 2914fps (39.3grs) to 3125fps (42.1grs). Will test more next time from 40.9grs(3037fps) to 42.5grs(?fps) which is .4 tenths higher than previous testing. My testing is done in .2 tenths increments. I also tested Berger 105gr Hybrids and SMK 107gr bullets, but not in Lapua brass yet because I ran out of battery life in my P35 chronograph. The Hybrids and SMK's showed great promise with the Peterson brass, so I can't wait to do testing with Lapua brass next time. Will post more then, unfortunately that could be several weeks. Sorry, hope that this helps some.

I heard from ADG that I should drop my charge 1.5grs from the amount I use in my Hornady brass, might get out and test that on my next vacation.

I shoot 6.5 Lapua brass with 147eld-m bullets and a moderate load of RL16 at 41.3 grains. With the last batch of brass I reloaded it 34 times before discarding the brass. I paid $100 for a box of 100. My brass cost per shot was about 3 cents. Way less than my 30 cent bullet, 10 cent per shot barrel, and my 7 cent shot per shot powder. My brass and primer cost is about 3 cents for each. Great stuff for a recreational shooter!

I am working though 6mm Creedmoor brass for my RPR right now.

I have Star Line LRP and SRP, Peterson SRP and LRP, Hornady factory LRP, and Alpha Munitions SRP.

Since mentally I am comparing these to what I think Lapua would do, why don't I bring in a box of Lapua? No good reason. I am going to have to buy some at some point.

It is really nice to have a caliber that is so well represented across all the new manufacturers. It is a great selection of brass with each company putting a little different twist on it.

Old thread but hoping rchouser could chime in with findings, looking to buy some brass and curious what people think of the peterson/alpha/lapua options.
