6 BRDX targets from today

no wind and very little mirage,,shot 2 4 shot groups that were 1.97 and 2.19 at 600 yards, with 32.2 RL15 .020 off a kiss ,this barrel seems to like it slow and easy,,which should leave room to bump up a little in cold and maybe not be as hard on barrel,

I took 20 rounds and shot 2 warm ups and 8 at 600 then dialed up to 26 moa elevation and missed first 2 shots left and then hit the 10 inch gong at 1,000 7 times in a row and missed last shot right,,all 10 were really level at 1,000,,I believe I will just load and shoot this combo a couple weeks and see how it holds up,,
my goals are 2 5 shot groups back to back at 600 under 2 inches,,

not as good as most of yall but I am still learning about this long range BR stuff,,

my rifle is a Stiller Tac 30 action with Jewell trigger at under 2 ounces that I bedded into a ST1000F with a Brux 8 twist taper to 1.100 at 28 inches chambered in the BRDX by Tim Claunch with a Sightron 8-32 SIII , I shoot off a Farley rest and Protector Dr flattop rear bag off a concrete bench

I load with Redding type s fl die with .265 bushing and turn my necks just slightly and run .002 tension,,CCI450 primers and seat with Forester Ultra Micro seater,,

I think I just need more practice and maybe a little stronger scope but anymore pointers would be welcome,,

Try a .010 jam on the VLD's. They are a bit fussy about load length. And don't be too tight on the necks .003 clearance should not hurt it.

Great start!!

no flags but mirage and grass was pretty steady left to right and I put in a click or two too much left and just shot for group trying to shoot only when mirage looked the same,,

I started with jam and seemed to get a wild flier 5-6 inches out until I got back off the lands,,not counting the wild shots it grouped better about .015 in lands but it seems more consistent off the lands,,

think I will try 108s and maybe invest in whidden pointing dies,,

Have you tried H4350? I just tried it in my BRX and had the lowest ES and smallest group I've had so far. I shot a 10 shot group at 100yds that measured 0.225" c-c. Load was 36.5gr of H4350 behind a Berger 105 vld. Average velocity was 2980 fps with an ES of 11fps. I had been using Varget which grouped well at short range but wandered a bit at long distance due to an ES of 32fps.

I shot out my first BRDX Krieger bbl with 36.2 H4350 at 3020 fps,,this Brux bbl I cant get enough 4350 in the case to get much over 2900 and groups didnt look good at all at 100,,so I started with RL15 at 100 and was lookin good at 32 to 32.4

shot these two targets today at 32.0 even and got 2.29 first 4 and made one click right and shot 4 at 1.485 in a pretty tough 11 oclock headwind

I did run out of 4350 I had and this lot may be more like 4831 but I cant get anywhere close to 3,000 or groups I was getting with other lot and Kreiger bbl..but I think this bbl shoots better with RL15 than other bbl did with 4350.

from today

Targets look good! Kick it up to 5 shot groups and you will get more of a idea where you are at.

Keep up the good work!

Those last 2 targets look like the first firing on freshly annealed cases. The top 2 look like maybe the 2nd or 3rd firing on the cases without the torch. Just a guess, and nudge. ;)

Has anyone tested their Magneto Speed chrony and a conventional chrony that measures 10 feet from the muzzle? What is the difference in speed between the 2. I am thinking 2930 at the crown may be 2880 more or less 10 feet away.

never tried it Tim but next time I catch Ronnie out I will,,the 32 gr RL15 2930 fps load checked with magnetospeed has been between 4 and 7 SD and never been over 16 ES 3-4 times I checked it,,from 100 zero 600 is between 10.75 and 12.00 moa and 1,000 is 25.5-27 moa elevation depending on environmentals with the 105 VLD,,,,

got a new can propane at TSC yesterday also,

bibs make some nice bullets, also should try some vapor trails,me and my friends found that the custom made bullets group more consistenly then berger or sierras, but [THE MAN] SCHATZ won the nationals with bergers I THINK!!!! but hes been playin this game a long time, hope I'm that good one day!!
