6 BRA primer

If you only had BR4 or 450s which one would you try first in the BRA? I am trying to trade for some 400s. I also have Wolf small rifle mag primers. But would have to trade my 450s to get the 400s. Never loaded for this round before or any 6BR for that matter

I shot 450's and they shot ok to good not as consistent as the Federal GM's when the weather gets better I plan to try the 400's. of all the powders I tried H4895 is the best, except if you want to try the 110's and H4350 works great...... jim

It seems preference has followed the reciever in my experience. Try all of them, but in my guns generally they will like 400s and 205s, or they will like br4s and despise anything else. But don't sell yourself short, a ladder with everything you have available will point you straight.

I actually just shot some 450s vs the br4s Today. 25 degrees out, and was kinda suprised to see the same velocity, with br4 having a bit better es. Should I have been surprised?

how did the targets look? Every time on my 284 and 308 comp rifles I can tell difference on paper with one primer really tightening the groups and better ES/SD too

Don't forget about the Russian SR mag primers. I don't shoot a BRA but I shoot a Dasher, and the Russian primers have delivered better consistency relative to the 450s. I have limited experience with the BR4. I gave them a look a couple of years ago and didn't see a material difference between the BR4s and the 450s.

Russian primers? We have no chance of getting Russian primers now with Trump gone as president. :)

I believe Tula and Wolf are the same thing - different branding of Murom primers. I have a supply of Tula SRMs.

If you don't like them, I'll be happy to dispose of them for you. One at a time . . .

I'm struggling with anxiety as it relates to their availability. I'm down to my last 9 thousand or so.

Powder and actions. Certain powders do seem to have a preference. And messing with the ignition can also effect the primer choice.
I think the best way to pick a primer is to shoot groups in and out of the sweet spot. I have been on a primer that would shoot under an inch if you nailed the tune, but either side it got big fast.
