6 BRA barrel length

Having a 6BRA built that will be shot suppressed a lot. Would 26" be sufficient or should I go with 28" to get a little extra velocity. It seems from what I've been reading 28" is the length most go with for this caliber.

If overall balance is important to you then the Length of your stock or chassis may be a consideration when choosing a barrel length. I’m no expert here it’s just a opinion ,
I don’t think you’ll give up any noticeable volocitiy.
Example is my stock was 32 in when I chose a 28 inch barrel that turned out a bit muzzle heavy, now it’s in a 36 inch stock and very well balanced and totally different.

I have 26" and 27.5" 6BRA barrels. If I were going to be shooting suppressed a lot I'd prefer the 26" barrel. I guess it depends on whether you are just shooting from a bench or if you will be moving around with it like PRS style competitions. I'm in the latter camp so that's my reasoning, the rig gets really long with a can on the end. I shot a 2 day match in Utah with the 26" barrel and a suppressor and the rifle was long, but still manageable.

The BRA is very efficient, your probably only looking at 5-10 FPS per inch. Make as usable as you need it.

Thanks! I figured it wouldn't effect it much. I'm gonna go with 26 since it will be mostly used suppressed.

I might go 24" that would be perfect with my suppressor. Just hoping if I go 24 I'm not giving up too much velocity. My 308 barrel was 24" and it wasn't bad at all suppressed. I'll have to give Jon a call Wednesday when he gets my action and barrel!

For suppressed, I vote 24-25".

Keep in mind a suppressor will add some velocity. Now I haven't had a chance to suppress my 6BRA, my 6.5 Creedmoor gained 30 fps when suppressed. That could make up for any velocity loss you would see by shortening the barrel to 24-25".

I ran a Silenceco Omega on it at the Quiet Riot match last year. All the other matches I shoot braked.

Wasn't really too problematic with the length of 26" plus can. A bit long but still manageable in barricades. I just prefer a brake for the extra recoil mitigation and staying on target.

Mine is 26” in Mickey a6 when it gets rebarreled it’ll be 22” as I find anything over that is annoying suppressed. It shoots 2920fps with 105’s and I don’t shoot very far very often so 22” is what it is for me!
