6 BR primer test

Everything about the rounds were as uniform as I could do. Just varied primer WEIGHT. Shot round robin, Light, heavy, light, etc.
Just mentioned in this thread to point out Primers can be an issue.
Will do more after a 600 match on the 16th.

Primers can be fickle. Don’t discount some of the overseas primers that come and go. But just as important is the trigger release, drag, firing pin strike. And the harmonics it sends down the barrel.
I never knew how bad it can affect groups, until I spent much time ironing out the issues.
And I no I’m not finished yet.

Thanks! I just wanted it clarified and you did that.

Did you happen to record muzzle velocities or perhaps the Shotmarker velocities at the target? I'd be curious to see if the high impacts correlate with higher velocities. I would expect they do. I'm thinking that heavier primers have more priming compound than lighter ones and thus produce higher velocities. Or maybe I'm all wet. . . . .

It was discussed in the thread I referenced
Garmin Xero and Primer Sorting
First 10 round middle weight primers, 2993.8 avg.
Light primer avg (5 shots) 2990.3
Heavy primer avg (5 shots) 3018.5
Last 10 round middle weight primers, 2998.7 avg.

The light/ heavy individual velocities:
Light 2989.3
*Heavy 3039.3
*Light 2975.2
Heavy 3007.7
Light 2996.5
Heavy 3018.5
Light 2993.2
Heavy 3011.4
Light 2997.4
Heavy 3015.7

This thread is about primer brands and the 6BR.
Sorry about hijacking.
