6 BR is coming !!

After a year of waiting, my gunsmith calls and says my 6 BR is ready to be shipped.

Can't wait and ordering some 105 / 107 grain bullets and powder. The gunsmith had put a 1 in 8 twist 26 inch Bartlien M40 contour barrel on a custom Remington 700 action, McMillian A5 stock with cheekriser, Jewel trigger with 16 oz break, pillar bedded, with a 20 minute picatinney rail and a rail for the forearm for an Atlas bipod. I'll be adding a NightForce ATAR 5.5-25

Does anyone recommend a great powder for the 6BR? I have used AA-2015 and BenchMark in the past using the 68-70 grain bullets with the 1-13 twist, but this time I'll be using the heavies in the new 1 in 8 twist.

Any bullets you guys recommend I try out? I'll be shooting 200 out to 600 or further.

Nice looking rig. I definitely share the good feelings when your smith says its ready. I'm gonna be trying different weights from 90 gr. thru the 108 s in mine real soon. Mine is a blue printed 700 with a HV brux 1-8 tw. 26" barrel.

I'd say try the Sierra 107's. Sierra has upped their game. I have one 6br that shoots them better than any of the Bergers in that weight class.

I'm thinking about a 1-14 twist in a 6BRA . You guys are telling the op a 105 bullet will work in a 13t?
TY

Nice looking set up!

1-8 twist barrel, the Sierra tipped 107’s have shot consistently small groups with no complaining. Bart’s bullets have been good to go as well. I’ve used Varget and H4895 and both have been working. My gun is in 6BRA but fireforming the brass from 6BR the accuracy has been excellent.

My barrel is a 7 twist. If you had a 7 twist I’d also suggest the 110 Hornady ATIP’s. The ATIP’s have shot excellent as well!

Later, Frank
Bartlein Barrels

I've been shooting 105 Hybrids, & 105 hvld,
108s, and now, the 107s. I think you'll be hard pressed to get it to NOT shoot well. My 107s have probably shot the smallest for me so far. I'm sure it was a fluke! 30.1 Varget is the # mine likes with those only cause I have a metric ton of it. Pretty sure you could scoop up some dirt up with the case, tap a rock in with a 2x4, and shoot small. Also, one of those crappy 8 twist Bartlein Barrels on mine The BR is the Easy button. Fact, I'm going out this morning.

107 SMK have produced the smallest LG groups right up to the point where I ran out of that lot number....
Second 105 Lapua scenar
Berger 108 are the most consistent but not quite as small in my setup.
Next I’m going 103 VT Tac , hopefully they shoot real small

Bottom metal will dictate what mags your gun likes. I'm running Surgeon on mine and it likes AICS mags with the Primal Rights spacer. MDT mags in another with a mini chassis. DON'T do ARC mags.
