6 BR help!!!!

I have a new 6 BR kreiger barrel trying to get a load down. I have a load with varget and 105 Amax that for 5 shots is almost 0 spread for velocity. But the accuracy isn't there, 1" about. Should I be staying there and just playing with seting to see if it tightens. I just tried 95 grn bergers and 31 grns of varget First shot high then 2 groups 1" apart with two bullets touching in each group??? Should I be playing more in gains or seating deapth??

Tell us a little more about the system--what action, what kind of stock, what kind of rest are you using. Are you shooting over windflags? What seating depth?

All those things can help us evaluate what's going on. I would expect a Krieger to shoot half-MOA or better if you have a good rest set-up. Is the barrel a .236 or .237? What's the twist rate?

Hi,If your sure you don't have a bedding or a scope problem. If your brass is OK,you can play with seating depth,if the Berger's are VLD'S they like to be jammed into he lands.I'd run a ladder test to get the best group with one type of bullet and different powder charges then try seating depths on a ladder test,if that doesn't help much try some different primers.

Bubb,
I to am working loads up for my Kreiger, I read the posts on favorite loads and all posts I could find on the bullets I plane on using, this forum has a lot to offer us new shooters to the 6mmBr. I would shoot for the smallest groups on paper then check my velocity. Chris

Okay Rem trued action H-S stock with aluim block 8 twist kreiger nikon 6-18 scope with dot. I just rechecked to make sure bases and rings are tight. They are. I'm useing Lupa brass and varget on a side note I found I can only seat bergers so far. Once they come in full contact with lands they get pushed into case! And no my action is not bedded!?!? I'm using Caldwell rest the good one and good rear bag. No wind flags not going for one hole just .25" @ 100. Now that I rechecked everthing I'll do ladder over this time using berger just to see if something jumps out. But I'm starting with 95 bergers into lands as much as they alow. I seat them long and let them get pushed back. So I'm going to do 29-30-31 and see what happens 5 shots each. Trigger is around 3LBS and breaks nice. With stony point gauge mesuring form sholder they 2.812 thats how long I safely check they are seated by lands.

Bubb,
I have not tried the 105 Hornadys, and the 95 Berger can be very picky at times. I shoot the 105 Berger in a Krieger also. In my guns the Berger's VLD's like to be jammed into the lands hard. The newest lot I am shooting, shoot better 0.025" to 0.030" into the lands. I have done some work with the new 108 Berger. and they are not picky where seat, end to out of the land. Looks like they will be a great Bullet.

Bubb,

First, either have your rifle pillar bedded or do it your self, there could be a stress issue going on that you dont know about.

Second, with the 105VLD Bergers, jam them at least .010" in the lands with 29.5 to 30.0 grains of Varget and the Fed. 205M. Two Kreiger Barreled 6BR's I know of like 29.5 & 30.0 of Varget with the Berger 105VLD's. Good luck to you.

Sounds like you have a short throat.
Trigger needs to be a 1.0 lb or less, 1.5 oz is what I use.
Back you bullets out until you have a nice square mark on the ojive, you may be jammed too far in to the lands.
What do your groups look like..verticaly strung, nice and round?
Is your stock slideing freely in the bags?
Do you still have the sling swivals installed in the stock, if so take em out until you get you load worked out?
What is your load of Varget? May be too much or not enough.
Those 105vmax's can be hard to get to shoot, try some Bergers in 105 or 108.
You need a little more power in the scope dept......20x or better.

Try or change these suggestions and you should find out those groups will change.
