6 BR and Ramshot powders

Has anyone done any work with any of their powders in the 6 BR with 80gr or 105gr. bullets?

Would anyone like to run quickload for me?

I am just trying to look for differant powders that i can get locally. I can get Alliant, hodgdon and now ramshot, but not RL-17.I have used Ramshot before in my 260 and liked it.

Thanks
Matt

Matt, since you can get Alliant and Hodgdon, you should have access to RL15 and Varget, those are definitely two of the top powders for the 6BR. RL17 is not a particularly good choice for it, it's a lot slower in burn rate.

As for Ramshot powders, I briefly tested TAC and it seemed OK, but I didn't do any extensive testing and another shooter reported to me that it fouled heavily in his 6BR,anecdotal, second-hand info, so...). You might have some fun and learn something to share with the rest of us if you try a pound of TAC in it!

i have run some TAC through my gun; 26", 8 twist Bartlein 5R, 0.094 freebore. owing to powder shortages this fall, decided to try it since i have quite a lot for the AR. so far i have the following results, with BR4 primers and 105 Bergers: 30.3TAC runs 2776fps with 0.4" spread at 100y; 30.4TAC runs 2800-2810 with same spread; for the lighter load the bullet was jumped 0.010, for the higher one i jammed it 0.005. not the same accuracy as Varget yet, but for non-match guys like me, with a kid who shoots deer, varmints and predators, TAC could be a great alternative, particularly given its price.

Thanks fellas, but i couldn't get into the range due to snow drifts so went goose hunting this weekend. hopefully next weekend

Matt,
I looked at some of my Quickload/Shockwave data for my 26.5" 6 BR barrel for 105 Bergers and it shows 31.0 grs. of RS BigGame as an optimum load at 2757 fps. I'm sure your barrel could be different but this might give you something to work from.
If you would like me to run QL for you email me your bullet, barrel length and case capacity as well as loaded OAL.

Good Luck,
Rodney

I have been using Ball C2 for quite some time now as it was the only powder I could get my hands on. Have had tremendous success with the .223 and 6BR. I know it is not popular anymore because there are so many 'boutique' powders out there but has anyone else had success with this powder?

I dabbled with it a few years ago, because of a 'national Varget shortage'. I found it was ok as long as temperatures were around 'normal' Very hot and it opened up. Very dirty though...
