6 BR 10 tw barrel

I just got my DiamondBack 6 BR in 10 tw barrel. Just looking for what you are shooting for Long range matches, I am look at Grounghog matches and 600 yds benchrest. I have 14,12, and 8 tw, but this is my first 10. It is throathed too long for 95 VLD's. Some bullets I am looking at 95 Bib's, 88, 90 Berger's, and 90 Laupa. I am told a 10tw will shoot a 105 Bib's, will it shoot a 105 Amax. Give me some info on what you are shooting? There was a write up on 10 tw at one time, on this site.

The 108 gr was what I was thinking of. I would like to keep it 95 gr or under.

I just finished a XP100 6BR 16" barrel with 10 twist Shilen barrel It shoots one hole groups with everything I put in it up to 85 gr BUT the 100 gr Rem. factory loads shoot over 1.5"!!
Its to be used mostly for varmints so the lighter bullets are fine for me.

Mark,

Don't be afraid to hang the 95 Berger VLDs way out there. I know a guy who's using them with about .110" of shank in the neck. But... in all likelihood, you'll need a faster twist barrel. A few guys have had success with 95 VLDs in 10 twists. The article about shooting them in a 10-twist had a problem--turned out the Shilen 10 twist was actually closer to a 9.5.

Don't rule out the 80gr Bergers. Low BC, yes, but very, very accurate and much cheaper than the Fowlers. Your rifle could probably shoot the 80gr Bergers in the ones at 100 yards.

Mark,

Randy SWEARS by his 95 in a 10 twist.

As far as accuracy, alone, at short range, it works great in a 8.

The BIB 6MM, 95 Gr. FB is ideally suited to 1:10" twist barrels - especially those chambered with about 0.100" of free bore and a 1.5 Degree throat angle; this "throating" seems to be customary for the various 105 - 107 Gr. VLD type bullets. Rigs featuring 1:10" twist barrels remain scarce. The BIB 95 Gr. FB/1:10" twist combination isn't just the "cat's meow" - it's the LION'S ROAR! How's that for the kettle promoting the pot!;) R.G.
