Put 6 grendel in the title, sombody will know someone who knows something.....maybe
I use .070" freebore in a 6 Grendel set up for 80 gr fb bullets. If you compare the bearing surface lengths of a Berger 80 and a Berger 105, they're very similar and I've seated 105's just to see where they come to in relation to the neck shoulder junction, with the top of the bt being just above the neck shoulder junction. I'd prefer it to be just a tad further away. I think .100 fb would be very near ideal. JMHO.I was wondering if any of you out there chamber for the 6-6.5 Grendel?
Is it throated for the heavier bullets?
105-108 Berger and Sierra bullets to loaded at magazine length.
Are you talking about 6mmAR ?
Grant at jgs is putting up with my ignorance. If you call cary at jgs he will know exactly what you need and will get you the correct gages for your reamer. Thats the best way to do it if youre getting your own reamer- youll know its right
No Ignorance going on here. We will get it dialed in!Grant at jgs is putting up with my ignorance.
In fact, a 6 Grendel is a .070" long PPC that doesn't require fireforming...just neck it down and turn, load and shoot. Works great and Lapua brass is excellent. Small primers, small flash holes and very good brass, overall. Capacity is pretty well right between a ppc and a br case. Forget about load data and load it like you would a ppc, in a good bolt rifle. I If shooting the light bullets, try loading to ppc pressures. You should have better speed, great accuracy and you'll forget what you did with that long drop tube. That’s gonna be real close to a ppc
Berger 95gr VLD work well with the .070" freebore.I use .070" freebore in a 6 Grendel set up for 80 gr fb bullets. That said, I throated mine with .070 to be able to shoot 65-80 gr bullets. For that, it works well and at the same time would be very workable for the 105 class of bullets. If I were you, I'd get a few different bullets and compare bearing surface lengths...or just call your favorite reamer maker and get their thoughts for your specific needs. They are very likely to know what will work best, as it has surely been done numerous times.
Not sure if that's a question or a statement. I've not tried them but I would think they'd work well.Berger 95gr VLD work well with the .070" freebore.
