6.5x55 C O A Length? In a short action?

Have any of you folks built a 6.5x55 on a Stiller Predator? I am wondering about OAL Fitting in a magazine.Looks like 3 inches is max in a short action magazine. Is that right ?, or do I have options. 6.5x55 data I'm finding in my old books is a little over 3" loaded . Any advice welcome, and thanks in advance from a rookie.

Probably too much taper for a magazine fed rifle, unless something like a Tikka T3 with 3 or 4rd capacity.

3" is also a bit short on the oal unless you are committed to 123gr or lighter weight bullets. Really need to consider a custom reamer also. Too much throat (probably) with a standard Swedish Mauser reamer if you aren't going to shoot the heavy range of bullets.

Might look for specs on where ogive begins in re to distance from bullet point. If going with VLD bullets seems like you should optimize throat. Probably want a 6.5x55 AI chamber if going detachable magazine with extended capacity; need much less taper in case to avoid tipping in the magazine. The case has almost .05" of taper from rim to shoulder edge. Standard .308 win has half that much.

Seems like the 6.5-284 or 6.5-08 are better options if going with a tactical action with detach magazine. YMMV... Good luck!

Thank you Hogan, So it can be done in a short action. I understand the reamer option you explained .Thanks again! Hows the 6.5 08. Is that easily formed from a .308 case, And is it accurate?
