6.5x47L tight neck question

I am having a 6.5x47L barrel done with a .288 neck if you have experience with this what should a loaded round be, do I need .002 clearence as I do with my 30BR for the future is there a standard clearence for most rounds or does it just depends on the round itself.

My competition rifle has a .286 neck and the suggested loaded round neck diameter is 0.2842 maximum. I turn Lapua Cases to 0.010" neck thickness max.
Gives me close to 0.002" clearance. Did consider reducing the clearance but some custom bullets can have a "pressure ring" area at the base which
is larger than the bore diameter. I use Wilson In-Line Dies, 0.281" Neck Bush with Berger 130gr VLD's seated very long with this 0.250" Lead so gives
very little neck tension.

IMO, your loaded round OD should be at least .002 less than the chamber neck OD for that caliber. Error on the side of a little more clearance, rather than a little tighter. I run .00230 to .00240 clearance, and a bullet will drop thru the fired caseneck OD at this amount of clearance and corresponding neck thickness.....don't know if you even agree with that philosophy. At any rate, you will not badly over work the brass by minimal over-turning necks, and IMO .002 to .0025 is not too loose.

Don't trust the stamped OD on bushings....confirm the actual data with your micrometer. Lately, most of the bushings I have used rarely size a neck to their stated OD

Thanks guys, I turned a couple to just get the tool set to give that .002 clearence on loaded round just wanted to make sure I was heading in the right direction.
