6.5X47L seating depth using Berger 140 gr.VLD Hunting bullet

I plan to try H4350 & Varget but I'm curious what others are finding as their best seating depth, just touching, jammed, or jumped & approximately how far into the lands or how far off the lands?
Thanks,
Alleycat

H4350, Rem 7 1/2, start .020 off the lands. Work up load. Then start altering seating depth .003 toward the lands to a hard jam. If going in is not productive, then start backing off from .020.

Magazine length is an issue to consider.

We have had great luck with N140 and AA4350 as well as H4350.

Don't be satisfied until you have tiny bug hole groups.

I’m always jammed. 0.020” for the vld’s and 0.015” with the hybrids. You’ll be surprised with the results and you can chase your lands as your barrel wears....

There is no answer as asked. I start with a square mark on the rifeling and back up. 005 at a time until it will repeat with groups in the zeros and ones. Once you find a sweet spot now fine tune either direction .001 at a time. If the 2nd shot does not go through the first hole I don't bother with the third. If you shoot the same bullet powder combination done with the same reamer by a good machinest you will usually find subsequent barrels will be very close to the first as far as a load.

H4350 41.5gr Berger 140vld orange box hunting Lapua brass CCI 450 primer -.010 shot outstanding for me! Not a hot load but as always work up! I actually shot my personal best group ever with this load at 300yds!

Thanks everyone. As I expected I've got jumpers & jammers.I have limited time using VLD's but with normal FB match grade bullets, several calibers & barrels in BR I always had my best results into the lands but so many using VLD's seem to jump or back off 0.010 to as much as 0.060".I will start will my normal way of the old tried & true square mark which is usually where the barrel will seat the bullet in a partially sized neck & the bullet lightly being held in the neck. Thanks Again Everyone

I did some limited testing using H4350,charge weights of 39.5,40.0,40.5,& 41.0 grs shooting 3 shot groups using Rem 7&1/2's and Fed 205's (not 205M's) I shot the first 12 which was 3 shots of ea charge weight with the Rem primers and a friend shot the 2nd 12 of 3 shots ea using the Fed primers. These were shot at 100 yrds without wind flags in fairly light wind which I'd guess was around 10 mph .We both shot our best groups with 40.0 grs of H4350.For seating depth I let the barrel seat 3 or 4 bullets then backed off the lands a small amount as to be able the extract a loaded round if needed,I'm not sure as to exactly how many 0.000" of the lands.I also had loaded 12 using CCI 450's but didn't shoot them.I realize this was very limited and could be fine tuned but all groups were accurate enough to hunt with using a standard H&S bedded stock and not shooting over 200 yrds.Again the 40.0 gr load was the best.None of loads had any signs of pressure & were all shot using new brass.
