6.5x47L Neck tension and clearence

BigDMT, yes or still getting warm or fouler I shot 5 hornady as I said they weren't very good at all but then the last 4 did well, so now I need to turn 80 more necks for the second time, I really don't enjoy that much.

bartman007, I just had had gunsmith chamber as he wanted I have not idea what freebore is on this one, I never asked. those are 130 bergers I can tell you that my OAL is 2.817 and that's at lands , on the hornady comparator it is 2.200

I hear ya on the neck turning. That's exactly why I bought a drill mounted shell holder for my 21st Century turner. Sure makes the task more bearable

I'll see how that fits with the 130 VLD's, I do use a Hornady OAL, so that's a great check too.

If anyone has info on the 140 Hybrid's, that would be brilliant.

I'm looking forward to breaking it in it has about40 rounds or 50 now, I ordered 500 130 Berger Target VLD's today from Sinclair one hour later got email and tracking UPS, they will be here by Wed. I get fast service from Iowa. but today was a good start, hopefully I can get all 5 in that same area.

For what it's worth, my Criterion match barrel measures 2.775 OAL and 2.124 BTO at the lands using a Hornady comparator gage and Berger 130 gr Target VLD's. This is my second Criterion and it measures exactly the same as the first using the same reference bullet. Surprising enough! The neck is a no-turn neck at .294 I think I was told (fired measures .293). I load to .290 neck. They shoot well with those dimensions. I'm just breaking in the second barrel but my zero check at 200 yards shot 3 rounds at .555" center to center. I'm using 37.8gr RL15, Lapua brass, BR4 primers and get 2925 fps with a Sd of 6 for ten rounds (4950' altitude) seated at the lands as noted. I'm happy!

cruiser 49, sounds good, the reason its 2.200 I forgot to say I'm using the 25 cal hornady insert, that came with the kit, if I had the 26 it would be shorter I would imagine since the hole would be bigger, I got those measurements using the Sinclair gauge, since hornady didn't have a case for 6.5x47.

cruiser49, after I saw your figures I checked with the bullet I used in measurement to tip was 2.208, so I measured other bullets they vary as much as .015 but from ogive they stay constant within .002, my true figure to ogive is 2.195, I do two different ways one with Sinclair tool and the other I have a case I cut down both sides of the neck so bullet will slide when it hits lands , that measurement from ogive is also 2.195, not sure if I can rely on Sinclair tool. On my other 6.5x47 done by Shilen it is close to yours 2.128 to ogive.
