Hi All,
rifle is at smith's being put together (Rem 700 s/a ADL (trued etc.), 22" Trueflight barrel #3 contour, chambered with a "No turn neck", Original stock to start with, bedded).
I'm getting excited, and need to do something (should be hunting, but...), so I was thinking about some barrel break-in loads, that will also form my brass to the chamber. Thinking of doing the following... Full length size and then load with standard federal small rifle primers, a load of Varget (ADI 2208) 35grains, and some lighter projectiles (90gr speer/ 100gr). Then go through the break in process (20 rounds), and then shoot the rest to form brass and get some trigger time. The plan is then to do some serious load development, with 123gr Scenars and hopefully 123gr Amax, and a couple of heavier projectiles, yet to be determined. Add some CCI BR4 primers, Varget. Then have a nice light weight and light recoiling rifle to go hunting with in the hills and mountains (on foot).
Any thoughts welcome, Do you think 35grains of Varget is about right?
cheers
