6.5x47 brass reformed to 6mm250

Can the Lapua 6.5x47 brass be easily reformed to 6mm250?

I've been using WW 22-250 brass reformed to 6mm250 but Im wondering if the Lapua brass would give me better case life

The advantage of using 47L brass is smaller primer pocket and greater brass life. If you are going to invest time into forming brass why not use brass that will last twice as long as the large primer pocket 22-250 will.

To answer your question I think all you have to do is neck it down and fire form it.

Been thinking about doing the same on my 6-250AI. But have to admit that re-working up a new pet load pokes into my laziness nerve.

I think that the 6.5x47L brass will come out too short when resized to a 6-250.
250 brass is 1.912" long
6.5x47L brass is 1.850" long
Another thing to look at is the web size.
250 web is .4668
6.5x47L web is .473

The 6.5x47l brass will have to grow about .060" in the resizing process and the web will have to downsize about .006"

You will have a heavy bolt lift after every shot from the web area being too large.

The early 6xc reamers were designed around the 22-250 brass and the bolt lift was fine as long as you used 22-250 brass. When Norma started making Tubb brass the web was .4703 and you had heavy bolt lift with the click at the top.
The fix was to redesign the reamer with a larger web area.

necking up the Lapua 22-250 brass would be the best approach. Even then you may get some serious donuts.
I made some 6xc brass from 22-250 Lapua and had mega donuts after the first firing that required neck turning to get rid of.
