6.5x47 barrel length

I currently have a 6.5x47 at 30in. With the 130berger 2900 is easy to reach if I cut the barrel back to 25in what will
the fps loss be. At 30 the gun is a chore to lug around for hunting. Just trying to figure what speeds can be reached with a 25in tube. Thanks

I get 2950 fps. with my 25" hunting rifle using RL17

Do you use the Berger 26503 Hunting bullet? Some folks here in California are convinced that the Berger Hunting bullets are as, or more, accurate than the Target bullets. I have not tried them but I'm willing to give anything a chance if it will work.

Yes, I use the hunting VLD's. I also shoot the hunting VLD's out of my 284 Shehane, never tried the Target bullets. I have heard the same thing, so I just stick to the hunting VLD's.

up until last year the Berger hunting vld and the target were the same bullet. The new target bullet has a thicker jacket to stop bullet failures due to friction and speed during matches. I have been using the target bullets for coyote hunting and the performance seems to be excellent. So much I took a Big doe
Last week and again performance was excellent. Anyway they both shoot the same for me. Happy shooting
