6.5x284 Load Advise

Have a new bench rifle to play with. Not shooting any competition or hunting, just shooting to 800yds, steel and little groups. Would like to extend the barrel life as much as practical. Have 120's, 130's and 140's on hand. Seems H4831sc,H4350 is mentioned the most. Won't run it hot. What powder should I try first?
Thanks

I use H4831 and 4831 SC both with great accuracy and low pressure signs. I shoot only 142 Sierra MK and 140 BTSP for hunting. I am getting 3100fps out of the MK in my 30" Benchmark barrel and can lift the bolt with one finger. I shoot the same load out of my Savage 110 with a takeoff 24"factory barrel I bought on a board for $75 to my door. I tried the same load I shot in the long barrel and it loved it, only thing I changes is the 140gr Sierra game King BTSP and it shoots a 3 shot group into .400 or smaller with ease. Have taken several deer with it here in KY, including a 12 pt at close to 300yds head on last year. Center punched him in the chest, and made a 7" long and 2" wide exit hole out the left rib cage.

Hodgdon has data for "6.5-284 Norma"
and "6.5-284"

AI Overview

There is no practical difference between "6.5-284 Norma" and "6.5-284"
because "Norma" refers to the standardized, CIP-approved version of the cartridge, while "6.5-284" often refers to the same standard or the original wildcat version which has variations in its specifications, particularly regarding chamber throat and overall cartridge length. In essence, when referring to the standardized version, both terms are interchangeable, but "6.5-284 Norma" is the official and more precise name.

6.5-284 Norma (Standardized)

H-1000 with the 140's. Good velocity and great barrel life. Since I dont know your set up start at 50gr and work up. Depending on your lot you will probably find a node around 53gr and 54 to 55gr. 55gr will be getting around max or warm again depending on your lot of H-1000.
