6.5's Show Them and give particulars

Good to see your results mirror mirror my own.

Enjoy the round. BTW: How did you determine the pressure, quickload?

I gave all the particulars of the case to my mate who has it. He then put in all the details. It was super close with the output. Like 20fps close to my data when I told him my recipe

Great looking rigs you guys have!

I've got 3 6.5's but nothing like you fellows bring to the table! Newset is a 264wm, 6.5-06 and the original 6.5 ....6.5X55. Put them all together myself too! :)

My next is going to be the 6.5 Creedmoor!

Here's an oldy but goody and a new one.

2006-7 1000yd-BR Light rifle. Built by Bill Shehane in 6.5-284Shehane with a BAT-B, Bartlien (IIRC) 28"er, Shehane Tracker II (IIRC) stock, Nightforce 12-42X56.

Shot it really well one WE at Tres Pinos, w. of Tucson, winning three of four trophies. I'm particularly proud of the 4-9/16" 5-shot group. :) Also shot a 7-odd-inch 10-shot group.

And the new one--please don't laugh too loudly--a new Savage model 10 Predator Hunter Max 1 in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Scope is a Vortex 6.5-20 that tonite got mounted on a long Picatinny rail for more-correct eye relief. Still working on loads but have shot some handloads and factory Hornadys at under 3/4". The most accurate Hornady factory load is the less-expensive American Gunner 140g. HPBTs which produced 0.7" and 0.9" 4-shot, 100yd. groups.

Good seeing the Savage. I recently bought the same rifle only days before a scheduled antelope hunt. No time to start seeing what it likes so went with Hornady ammo which kept groups under 1/2 moa at 200 yards.. Both my wife and I took our antelopes well over 350 yards. Looking forward to developing loads as soon as dies are delivered.

IMG_3413.JPG Just got back my 6.5 x 47L from SO custom rifles in Knox Pennsylvania with a new Krieger barrel for next year. First time for a Krieger Barrel for me but I was impressed by how quickly this new barrel cleaned up after doing the break-in. Looking forward to running a ladder in the spring on this gun. Anyone out there looking for a great gunsmith to do Percision work I would highly recommend SO (Sportsmen's outfitters) custom rifles in Knox, Pennsylvania. 814-797-5253

IMG_2686.JPG These are not works of art like many rifles you guys have shown, but I enjoy them and am very proud of them.

My first 6.5 was my home-built LR308 in 6.5CM, with Mega MATEN receiver, ambi controls, Rainier Arms UltraMatch 22" fluted rifle-length, JP enhanced bolt and DPMS bolt carrier, Geissele SSA-E, Magpul MIAD grip and PRS stock with Accu-shot monopod, Troy M-Lok rail, Muzzle Rise Eliminator from Witt Machine, BCM Gunfighter charging handle, and CAR10 XH buffer and spring from Heavy Buffers.com. Magpul Offset BUIS. Spuhr SP-4616 20 MOA uni-mount, Leupold 4-24x52 (34 mm tube) VX-6 TMOA reticle. I use PMAGs and also Lancer AW-7 mags. This isn't my favorite home-built AR, but it's the only 6.5mm.

Next came the 260 Rem Model 700 factory action with Magpul Hunter stock. I added the APA Little Bastard brake, Timney Calvin Elite 2-Stage trigger, Precision Armament 20MOA Picatinny scope base, Spuhr SR-3000 rings, and Leupold 8.5-25x50 (30mm tube) VX-3i LRP TMOA reticle. I use Magpul AICS 5 and 10 round mags, and I designed the custom Cerakote job applied by 5Guns.com. This is my only bolt-action rifle that wasn't "permanently borrowed" from my dad.

I don't re-load, but I use a magneto speed V3 to find consistent MV factory ammo and look for the ammo that gives sub-MOA groups when sighting in. At this time I mainly use 130 gr 260 Rem Eagle Eye and 140 gr Hornady 6.5CM ELD Match ammo. With these rifles, I usually shoot steel or other targets from 600 yds up to a mile (at higher elevations). When it's not too windy I can consistently hit 1 MOA known-range targets beyond 1000 yds. Even though these rifles don't have accurized actions, I think they could shoot really well with the right hand loads and a better shooter.

Ok. My first shot at posting a pic. This is my new 6.5 crudmucker. It started off as a Rem bdl 22-250. It now wears a 24-inch, Criterion, heavy sporter barrel. Shoots great and now for a new Super Sniper to go on it!
