6.5mm FB LR match bullets

6.5mm FB or BT LR match bullets

I say there is room for both. What ever your barrel likes. But over 300yds I'll take a good BT. My rifle shot both the FB & BT's very well. But at 300yds I had to add more windage and elevation to my zeros with the FB, so I just stayed with the BT at all 3 stages.

There are two kinds of winds out here.
The first kind blows in a single direction all day long and the speed varies on it.
The second kind of wind blows back and forth and in various directions at various speeds.
In the first condition you can shoot in a 45 mph wind by simply cranking in some windage and letting your rounds downrange quickly.I call this condition an honest wind.
On the second condition unless your name is god go with a very high bc bullet at top velocity and shoot as fast as you can work the bolt.
On the 187 BIB's the biggest problem is too fast of a twist and I can't shoot in the second type of wind. After some advice from aJR above I bought a 13.25 twist and a 13.5 twist barrel and they both love the BIB bullets.Problem is we only have wind condition one a couple times a year out here in California.
As a side note BCB who is also posting on this thread is actually Bob Cauterucio who makes GTB bullets and shoots in California as well.
What sets the BIB's and Carterucio's apart from the Sierra's,Bergers and Hornady bullets is they are much more consistent bullets as they are made on a single die.You don't have the seating depth variations typical to most VLD type bullets. That translates into less sorting and more good shooting.
I have been in Bob's garage and each die is in its own press. They never get moved around or reset once they are set-up so you get all your bullets off of a single die not a bunch of different dies all mixed up in a single box.

Thanks for the info.

I shot F/TR up here in Canada so I shoot alternating shots with 2 sometimes 3 to a mound i my not get to shoot again for 3-4 min from my last shot. so i have alot of time to read the wind and watch my condition pass me by a couple of times...

As to twist i was discussing this in depth with Dave tooley and he was running a 14 twist as it so happens i have a 14 twist as well but in 308 Win won't be approaching speeds he obtained. running the JBM and Bryan's program i am stable at 2750fps and at 1,000 am 1330 (estimated) I do have a 11.25 on order.

Thanks
Trevor
