6.5mm 130gr Projectiles for 6.5x47s

It seems for 6.5x47 cartridges, that 130gr projectiles are right at the sweet spot for the longer ranges out to 1000yds. Its a great cross course caliber and the 130gr bullets are perfect. Despite this fact only a couple of manufacturers produce high BC projectiles in this weight.

Berger Bullets, full credit to them) make one of the best 130gr high BC projectiles available. It seems Sierra, Hornady and Lapua aren't interested in producing their excellent MatchKing, AMax and Scenars for these new calibers in this weight.

Hornady have just introduced the 6.5x47 Creedmoor and Lapua their 6.5x47L but no 130gr projectiles. It looks like Berger have this lucrative market all to themselves unless we can convince the other manufacturers to produce this size bullet.

139-140gr is too heavy to be propelled at 2900fps without brass damage and the 120-123gr projectiles are too light to buck wind at longer ranges. Lets petition Hornady, Lapua and Sierra to give us a projectile with a high BC,like Berger) in 130gr for the benefit of the new 6.5x47 calibers.

You make some good points, however, the 6.5X47 is still relatively new. Not to mentioned being altered to 6mm. I have shot the Lapua 123's from 300 meters to 1000 yards. This bullet is very accurate but it takes a good shooter to shoot a good long range score,,compared to some Palma competitor with higher scores). Very little recoil with Varget. Last match at Camp Butner in June at 103 degrees was certainly a pulse problem not the bullet.I like the 123 grain Lapua at 300 meters and 600 yards. It worked at 1000. Will shoot 1000 yards at Butner in October with the Berger 130 VLD's with 4350 and we'll see. Ben

It seems I overlooked the 260Rem as its close to the 6.5x47s I am sure this caliber would benefit from the addition of a 130gr high BC projectile as well.

Any of the listed manufacturers want to comment about the missing 130gr projectiles in their product line up?

That would be possible if they marketed them in Australia but they dont. Hornady, Sierra and Lapua all have a market presence down under but Berger for some reason dont.

Just a heads up that the Berger 6.5mm 130 gr VLDs will start shipping in the next few days. We are nearly finished with our latest run.

Regarding sending Bergers to Australia our importer is Parabellum Imports who can be reached at info@parabellumimports.com.au. They have a shipment on the way with more to follow. It will take a little time to get settled in but Australia will see a steady supply of Bergers in the future.

Regards,
Eric

You would think Lapua would make a 130 class bullet since its there brass.

I guess 123 and 139 is close enough :)

Just shoot a swede and be done with all the problems :)

RHINOUT!

Look forward to seeing how you go with the 130 VLDs and 4350 powder at 1000yds, keep us posted.

I'm with you Rhino why haven't Lapua produced a 130gr Scenar with an amazing BC like they do with the 123 and 139gr projectiles.

Yeah, your right again, the swede would launch 139-142gr projectiles better than the 6.5x47 Creedmoor, Lapua and the 260Rem but the 130gr bullets are made for these calibers. Lets hope Lapua, Hornady and Sierra,to name only 3)get behind the caliber and start producing high BC 130gr ballistic missiles.

Parabellum is the importer in Australia for both Norma and Berger Bullets but they haven't reponded about my Norma inquiry.

Wonder if they will post when the Berger Bullet shipment finally arrives in Australia.

Someone mentioned JLKs bullets, they are not available and appear to be a USA only supplier
