6.5 x 47 evaluation

As mentioned in another post my brother is looking into the 6.5X47 for a new build. He currently shoots a very nice 308 and I use a 6BR. He is looking for something in between in terms of power/recoil with all the accuracy of the 6BR and or 308 if possible. He wants to be able to get factory brass and work up a load fairly easy. It is being built on a short action platform. He would be shooting mostly at 100-200yds but would like the ability to reach out to 800 or more.
feedback on the folowing would help out a bunch.
1. How will it compare to the above cartridges in terms of accuracy with everything else being the same?
2. appropriate twist and bullet selection for all around shooting.
3. what is the typical barrel life if kept cool?
4. Is load development or equipment a problem for that round?

The strongest point in favor of the 6.5X47 Lapua for a repeater, is that you can load long bullets and they'll fit in your magazine and the brass is great. The larger 6.5 cartridges have an edge in terms of velocity but they won't fit in a short action magazine.

If you aren't using it as a competition gun a barrel will last forever and allow you to do a lot of target shooting with mild recoil.

Thus far I've used 3 of them in various kinds of comp. and 1 for for hunting. In the last year I've taken a white tail buck and a dall ram, using Berger 130 gr. VLD thin jackets with great results.
